Hey guys i'm wondering if anyone here has a website that he enjoys operating it and for the purpose of the site without thinking to monetize it I'm not asking to buy or sell but just want to know if there is a generous webmaster on DP that entertains his visitors for free Who is the one ?
Well there you have my answer. I barely have any sites that are not monetized..usually I just end up selling.
my site - www.harrypottertalk.com is not monetized at the moment. but in the future i may think of monetizing it.
None of my sites are monetized. Some even have a few thousand uniques per day but I let people enjoy the stuff on those sites for free IT
I have 1 personal hobby site that is not monetized. It also has the highest PR of all my sites, so it won't last long
I have ads on my blog but i don't get money from there as i don't market the blog why ads ? i just want to force Google to keep checking my site with having adsense on it
I have one thats a free directory but I will put it on soon since Im working on the layout atm. But I hardly ever not put ads on a site... $0.01 a day is better than nothing XD
The reality of the internet. You need to expand beyond adsense and see if you can make money in other ways.
The closest I have to a non-monetized site is a vBulletin forum where I only display AdSense on the archived pages (which members never see - only folks who find those pages in search engines).
I have 4 sites and all earn me money, one just about pays for itself, but is in its early stages and I am working on it. I have enough on my plate with these without running hobby sites.
I used to run my web-sites for "free." I just ate the $70 a month plus domains it cost to run. Then I realized how silly that was. There's no such thing as a free web-site. There is no bandwidth fairy. There is no Domain Name Goose. Someone has to pay for it. For awhile I had paid subscriptions but now I stick primarily to AdSense. My file sharing site will be the first site in about 6 years that has an access level that costs the user directly. Unless AdSense covers costs in which case the paid accounts will remain free. I'd rather advertisers foot the bill than users directly.
