Yes I overclock my videocard and the cpu and the memory...lol maybe I should just buy a dual videocard system and save myself the hassle.
Nope, no reason to OC here... In a few months the next fastest will be out so why bother?... Myself I have to get atleast 2-3 years out of my machines to justify the cost, no reason at all to OC... Video Games play great, SETI@Home crunches fine and I'm a happy camper for now...
i overclocked my cpu a little, got an extra 210 mhz to make my 4400x2 clock at 2400 mhz. I tried to overclock my graphics card(xfx 7800gt) but from researching it i had to change the registry to open up the overclock menu in the nvidia menu but when i did that my computer crashed on start up so i had to change the reg back to the original!!
I actually underclock and reduce the voltage for my graphics card and CPU via various items of software. Reason being it's a laptop and doing so increases the battery life - sometimes by hours. Without the software my laptop's CPU runs at 1.7Ghz (1.34 volts) and the temperatures is around 50 to 60 degrees centigrade with the fan on full power most of the time, with the software enabled, it dynamically changes the speed based on demand but mostly stays on 600Mhz (0.7 volts), and stays at around 30 degrees and no fan activity. Even running at 1.7Ghz, I have the voltage set to 1.036, so produces far less heat. It's essentially a balancing act editing the settings initially, you reduce the voltage until the CPU starts going wrong through stress tests then bump it up a bit to make sure.
WOW underclocking, never would have thought of that one...lol it does sound like a good way to save the battery like you said though.
Now your talking, I think when the next generation cards come out I am going to build my first dual card system and see how fast I can push it.
The only reason why i have a dual system is because radeon 9550 is not actually that good. I also just happened to have 2 of them so i thought... Why not? If i had the money id buy something like this: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=92419
I have 2 of the GTs not the GTXs It runs absolutlely everything on ultra high, though i think i may of been better getting one 512meg GTX and then getting a second when they are cheaper ina year or so.
