Do you only promote one or the other, or a mixture of both? I read of some people who only promote CPA and say they dont bother with products, but why? Also i mean actual products that would be delivered to people at their homes or work and not digital products. Do you find it harder in any way to promote a product?
I think the best way to go is to do both. There is a lot of money in CPA, and there is a lot of money in products, even digital ones like ClickBank has. Any time you pigeon-hole yourself by exclusively promoting one product type or niche, you are setting yourself up for failure when something inevitably happens to that offer. Google slaps you, the offer goes inactive, etc. I would test campaigns across all networks and offer types. Josh Todd - Affiliate Manager - affiliate.com
Depends on what type of traffic you drive to what type of offers? Leads are a lot easier to deal with because that type of traffic is less prone to have to pull out a CC to net you $$$$. Digital products are priced lower on the whole side of things but are subject to more chargebacks. Regular products (are the hardest to sell) #1 reason being that people love to compare and comparison shopping means it's harder to get that certain visitor to convert at moment from your site. Then again it all comes down to the type of traffic you possess and have access to. I do well in all 3 categories but it took time to figure out why traffic source A does better in a certain field.
Hi Josh, yeah ive read similar suggestions in other places, not to only promote one of a product or niche but to diversify and at least if one goes bad theres something else to fall back on, thanks for your advice. With leads i was forgetting about that, regarding not needing to convince them to get a CC out, i guess i will try out all types in time and see how things go, from what im reading they all naturally have their pros and cons, thanks for the info.
