Do you notice any obvious problems with my keyword targetting?

    Hey,

I am trying to get the terms Debate Forums and Debate Forum for my site, http://www.volconvo.com . I am #3 for debate forums and #5 for Debate forums.

    Do you have any advice?

Are there any good books I should pick up, services I should pay for, etc?

Sorry to be so vague; I am trying to get some ideas from people who know what they are doing.

Yeah be a little more specific what you're after. We use this - http://www.onewaytextlinks.com - to help with our link building on all of our sites, for example... but... what are you after?

Based on what I see on your home page, the only suggestion I'd make is to eliminate the list of sponsor links at the bottom - this could be viewed as spam by the SE spiders. The fact that many of them are unrelated to debate forums makes this even more likely.

Far more important, however, is your off-page SEO strategy - try to obtain one-way, inbound links from authority (i.e. quality), related sites, using your keywords as the anchor text. This will probably help you more than all of your on-page SEO efforts combined. :)
