Hello, I have a landing page setup and some more steady traffic. Does traffic automatically come to hubpages and squidoo like it does at ezinearticles? Or are those sites just to set up a landing page on?
I've never experienced any "automatic" traffic from hubpages & squidoo. I think you'll need to link to them to get anything happening.
No it doesn't. On Squidoo you need to constantly update your lens to keep it fresh. Build backlinks, etc. Don't really know much about Hubpages, but I think the same thing is there.
I know that hubpages has a tendencey to rank high in google so persons just use it for SEO...I do sometimes..
Squidoo pages also rank highly anyway and will appear in Google without promoting them. I just use Digg and that usually gets them indexed pretty fast.
nice tip... i started creating lenses and hubpages recently but still haven't added them to any social bookmarking.. could help get some extra traffic. and hopefully get indexed and in the long run get good SE traffic
What people don't get that if a site can rank in Google it can bring traffic if it's optimized right. There's nothing 'magical' about EzineArticles, it simply has a tendency to rank well in the SERPS. Any site that ranks well can get you "automatic" traffic. Does Squidoo and Hubpages rank well? I think we all know the answer to that question.
lemonarian Actually there is magic on EzineArticles If you simply write an article, without keyword research or any other relevant research, then submit the article, you will get traffic anyway. Read again, what I said. No research, no digging or stumbling or social bookmarking. You still get traffic. If you try to do that on Squidoo or Hubpages nothing will happen. If you don't target any specific keywords in your article, you will have zero traffic, because unless your lens or hubpages gets on top positions in SERPs you won't get any traffic. Your article, which is on Ezine might not be on top of search engines, but it will bring you traffic from Ezine directory. That's the magic thing about Ezine.
Hubpages do have the "magic" there because hobbyist somehow gathers at Hubpages and start writing about what they like. However, the power of the magic is way lower compared to EZA. Anyway, Hubpages do rank well when properly optimized.
If you write original content the Search Engines will be far more friendlier and you should index well.
I am not talking about rankings of websites, because both Squidoo and Hubpages rank well, as well as EzineArticles. The thing I want to make clear is the "automatic" traffic. If you read my previous post, you will understand what I mean.
It might be true that you can get automatic traffic without any real optimization from ezine, but the question remains: why bother writing anything at all unless you have it optimized (or at least put a little keyword effort into it). That's not to say you should be robotic and overly methodical when writing articles; only that even the most pure articles on the Web are now being written with keywords in mind.
So do people at Squidoo and HubPages, that's a whole freaking social community. Jonathan Leger did an experiment once where he made a lens and got some cheap PPC traffic to it... he got a lot of traffic to it which boosted him into the Top 100 lens list. That'd bring you more traffic than you get from even a keyword optimized article at EA.
I think the traffic at squidoo is a little suspect to quality. Hell, I posted my site in and up and coming article at digg and got 10,000 unique hits for the day. Wasn't worth anything though.
Wherever you create pages just make sure you link it t other blogs and sites wherever its worth . Also you other promotional methods also do help a lot.
lemonarian That might be true, but this is Bum Marketing, and even "cheap" PPC traffic costs money What I was saying is that traffic doesn't come from no where on Squidoo and Hubpages, but on Ezine it does. That's what I really like about it.
Lol, fine, you win. Though you can still get a lot of traffic without promotion on Squidoo... I've seen it happen, hell I've done it.
Hubpages work very well for me to get my article on 1st page of google. There is a potential of earning good affiliate commission from amazon and ebay and google adsense revenue is shared. Here is the proof : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1040989
Try using a service such as PostToaster to add your new hubpages or squidoo lens to all the top social bookmarking sites. It's worth signing up to them all.
