Hi guys, I was wondering if it is necessary to have great domainnames (e.g. 1 generic word domainnames like shoes.com) to create an income of AdSense? Or can it be done by having several "good content" websites ? I just want to know what your experiences are on this subject, for I know Shoemoney is making good adsense money but it seems to me that he is one of the early birds and he registered some pretty good domains before the "hype". Please dont come with a "1000 times $1 per dag income is $1000 dollars a day", seen as though I have l33t adding skills. Kindest regards, lewney
It is possible to generate incomes without having a domain name including generic terms. The most important points are your content and the SEO.
A great domain name could of course be helpfull but isn't mandatory. 1: Quality Content preferbly Unique! 2: Optimized content for keywords and phrases used in searches 3: Getting good paying keywords, don't focus on high paying keyword lists 4: Applying overall SEO for your site 5: And most important Traffic! Anything more added is of course welcome
Many people believe branding is more important than having generic terms in a domain name. In many ways this is true. From our own work, if you have keywords somewhere in your URL path the results are quite similar to having domain names with keywords in them. Don't forget to use other SEO tips and tricks too though..
It's all about content. Domain name is not important. This does not apply however to the inner URL structure.
I don't think that's entirely true dude. If the adsense bots have no idea what your page is about, I have a hunch they take the domain name into account to serve up ads.
A great name isn't really all that important. The key to making a living out of Adsense is traffic, adsense placement, and page impressions. Who cares about a name? If you have a site getting a thousand visits per day you will make a lot in Adsense. If you have a site getting 10 thousand visits a day you'll make even more. Most domain names like shoes.com have already been taken anyway.
I can confirm this. But yeah, the general equation is that content is what will bring in traffic, and traffic will bring in money...
If it's any consolation, my domain names have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the keywords which bring in the big money. In fact, I registered my biggest domain name with the intention of doing one thing and it turns out all the traffic came from something completely unrelated. So... I completely revamped the website to match the traffic being generated. Unfortunately, the domain name is hard to say, hard to remember, and completely unrelated. This makes it hard to build branding.
Thanks for all your viewpoints. It's in line with my thoughts. Look at thesuperficial.com, that name doesn't ring any bells by me, but it has big traffic. lewney
