Title: The All Star Break Cannot Come Quick Enough for the North Side

With the Cubs going 4-6 in their last ten games, and 6-9 in their last fifteen games it is time for Cubs fans to panic. The once "best team in baseball" is now tied for the second best record in baseball. Why do the Cubs look so bad? For starters, they are 17-24 on the road. They don't look like a team that is going to carry their amazing home record into the second half of the season so they need to step it up on the road. Here are some problems the Cubs have:

Where are the left handed relievers? Some Cubs are saying, "We have Scott Eyre." Sorry to break it to you but Eyre is not a quality guy out of the bullpen. This is Major League Baseball not AAA. Left handed pitching is a must if you plan on going deep in the playoffs. Neal Cotts hasn't been effective since 2005 when he won the World Series with the Chicago White Sox.

Fukudome has finally came back down to earth. Don't get me wrong the guy has potential but his success was blown up by uneducated pitching and managing. Nobody knew how to pitch this guy until after the Crosstown at The Cell. Now, the poor guy can't remember how to hit a baseball. Everybody knows his weakness and it will be interesting to see him adjust late in the season since he has never played over 120 games in his career.

Injuries have plagued the poor Cubbies. Big Z and Soriano are key players for the Cubs and without them the Cubs are 17-20.

They need to win on the road. Any team planning on contending needs to be able to win on the road especially with an amplified opposing crowd (which they cannot do). They proved it during their visit to The Cell (which is closest to home a road game is going to get).

Ryan Dempster, the closer turned starter has been lights out for the Cubs. How long can he keep it up? He has been hands down their best pitcher all year. Can he take the Cubs into the playoffs and win? Is his arm going to hold up during the second half of the season?

Carlos Marmol has not pitched a full season yet and has shown signs of weaknesses. He was lights out the first half of this season but with his weaknesses exposed watch out for managers trying to exploit them. They will especially LaRussa.

Can Kerry Wood can he keep doing what he is doing? Will he become the Kerry Wood of old. You know, the guy who either walked 5 guys every inning or fanned 3.

The All Star Game, baseball fans know that this means home field advantage for the winning league. Well, when is the last time the National League beat the American League? Bet, that crashes a World Series wish for you Cub fans.

Lastly, the Cardinals. This boys can play ball. LaRussa is one of the best managers in all of baseball. That is why this young team is able to win so many games. Believe it or not, they are for real!

Thanks for reading everybody. There will be one for the White Sox soon. I have to get some stats together and think about a format to write it in.

I write more then just sports
