Do you make more money on large 100 page sites, or on blogs?

It seems most people here make money off of blogs or small 5-10 page sites. Has anyone had success with a large site, say 100-200+ pages? I'm just wondering really. I'm currently making a large site (sig) and I'm going to go through with it whether or not it makes lots of money. I just wanted to know if anyone has had success with a large site!

    Thanks

lol well I know there are alot of big sites out there making tons of money =P. I dunno, I guess I just never see any kind of success stories coming from here about those types of sites. And when most people post a site to rate or what not it always seems to be a blog.

Also, thanks for the link. I know about SEO, its just that I'm not trying to advertise my current site as I'm working on a new layout, which is actually done, but I'm adding 100s of pages of new content and I don't want to upload it and advertise it until I am done and have a domain name as well.

I prefer to have multiple blogs with their own domain name. I have one site that
probably has about 100 pages and I only get about 100 visits/day...but then again, I haven't updated it in years. :)

    Wow, lots of replies =)

superclick, how long have you had your larger sites? How is your visitor/page hit ratio? I mean, I assume on a blog you only get one or two page hits per visitor? I was just wondering what a larger site gets. I don't trust the data I have on my site. One, not enough visitors to really guage anything. Two, my tracker sucks and seeing as how I'm currently on a free host it doesn't even track anything for me.

Just so everyone knows, if you are leaving me any advice or anything and check back on my page and see that I haven't made any changes, its because I've pretty much given up on the current site and am focusing on my new one which will be much better, and won't be on a free host.

http://quotevoid.sitesled.com/newlayout will be what my new site will look like and that also shows the content that will show up.

A large factor is in what field the blog or the sites are in, certain fields pay more then others.

I would have thought traffic was the key either way. I guess larger sites will in theory have good chance of getting some search engine traffic as long as the pages are well optimized. It also depends on the nieche.

It depends, personally... making money from a blog is a LOT easier than making money from a large site, but you can make more money with a large site.

As I said, it depends :p

Assuming that they are on the same subject, It IS only about traffic. Then the issue is...is it easier to get clicks for a large site vs a blog...matter of preference, actually. Either way, you have to have origianl content that attracts and engages people.

Blogs can be quicker to network with other folks and get traffic IMHO, but I hav done it with sites as well. 100-200 page sites are small.

    Best;

Rather you choose blogs or a traditional site (large or small), what's most important is the topic. If you choose something of interest to a large percentage of the Internet population, you'll eventually get a lot of traffic, and that will convert into higher earnings. Vice versa for a topic that no one but only a small percentage cares for.

With the right topic, it hardly matters how you set up your site.

alright then, seems like I have nothing to worry about then as long as I focus on my content =). I think the one problem with my site would be that people wouldn't return often, only when they needed to look something up, or when they were really bored. Thats why I added all the daily things, I'm hoping that will bring people in at least once a day that way they will be able to see any updates I make and what not.
