i feel it's too dark too.

perhaps you should make all the text #FFFFFF else reading would be a pain.

the design itself looks more like a security/hacker site to me.

 

The color shceme is nice and OK.
But the background picture with slash is a bit ugly .

 

I like the colors I would like to see what the text looks like when reading a post.

hmmm not bad but put some colored text to make it more balance like put some yellow, navy blue colors ... and ow I guess the logo needs to make a revision too plain. I agree with the diagonal strips background you need to change that also make it like a horizontal gradient would be really nice.
