No I don't like politics but they are so entwined in our lives, that I follow politics closely as I feel it is personal responsibility to voice an opinion to hopefully contribute in anyway possible to prevent ordinary folks being dictated to by wayward politicians and idealists What I like is freedom, friends, family, sport and good food and not least of course business
Though all are not interested in politics it is inevitable for the proper and smooth functioning of the social system. If all the politicians strive hard for the welfare of the people, then politics will definitely be considered as a necessary factor for the development and progress of society.
I didn't get into politics until after 9/11. It was that "wake up call" that Americans were supposed to get. I got it. I started debating at a forum local to my community. Politics was the hot topics, always. I didn't have a clue what a liberal, conservative, democrat or republican was. Sure, I had heard the terms over the years, but like many Americans prior to 9/11, I simply voted on who covered the issues I felt were important to me at the time. Never took the time to really understand the party views. For the first few months of debating, I called myself an "independent." I debated from "the heart" on what I felt was right/wrong. Eventually, people kept pointing out I was a "conservative." It was interesting, because I never had any previous political affiliation. After debating issues, I was able to ascertain my conservative leanings. It was certainly clear...I was NOT a liberal Back then, I watched angry liberals try to justify why America deserved 9/11 (you know, that whole "self loathing" liberal thing they have going). I have to admit, I was naive about politics then. I could not grasp that there were people so stupid and hateful of their own country. Now days, it's like the new "pop culture" thing to be a part of. Times, they are a changing.
I always like politics. I have been interested since I was a young on how the government works and how everything comes into play.
It's not really about liking...to me it's surviving. You have to keep vigalant, because governments similiar to ours, don't last that long. The issues that concern me: 1)The size and Constitutionality of our government 2)Immigration 3)How we handle conflicts 4)Political culture and internal demographics
