In the United States, MTV was once the channel that played music videos for about 20 hours a day, with some commentary from VJ's in between. Now, I can't remember the last I witnessed MTV playing a FULL music video. It's almost all reality TV shows, and many of them aren't even real (a lot of stuff is pre-written for shows like Laguna Beach and even Room Raiders). I think MTV (Viacom) realized their biggest demographic was tweenies who would rather watch these fake romance/fantasy shows like My Super Sweet 16. Basically, the 10-15 demographic stole MTV away from people who actually enjoy music videos.
Hell no MTV sucks. It was good back in the mid 90's and before then when they played videos and the only show on it was Beavis and Butthead. The music was good back then to. Now it's some idiot rap music and a bunch of stupid shows that I guess is targeted to teenagers. Hell I'm 23 and I can't understand any of those shows or the music I think it all sucks.
I used to love MTV, but the last time I watched it there seems to be more programmes than there are music shown.
I'm surprised anyone on here likes MTV. Not to offend anyone but I always had this idea that it was all middle-schoolers who were keeping them alive by watching TRL and Punk'd. Even for pop music MTV is on the lower end of the rung. They have P-Diddy on almost every show, and I've never met a rap fan who actually listens to him lol. They also had Nick and Jessica, Ashlee Simpson, Tila Tequila. Who listens to that music? Even most top 40 stations wouldn't touch Tila Tequila's music with a ten foot pole lol, or 98 degrees.
Sometimes, sometimes not, its depending on what's showing, stupid videos get turned off, good videos stay on!
Mtv is the ultimate source of the daily music dose of almost everyone.I watch it everyday..most of the time during midnight.
I liked MTV when I was a teenager and when I was in my 20's I watched it everyday. But not it does not appeal to me anymore I guess I grew out of it.
