I like Magento (not magneto :D) because it has one of the biggest collection of free and paid extensions. In fact, you can easily customize it using these modules for admin, front-end or any other part of the platform.

Magento is really a good shopping cart but it maybe too complicated to learn up and technical .
That is why most people use alternative e-commerce rather than Magento.

I didn't really like it when I used it and I've heard a lot of bad things about it, primarily the learning curv and advanced coding knowledge required in order to work it like you wish, but if you have the time and the patience, why not try it out.. maybe they do meet all the self-proclamations found on their site :)

Of, Course I like Magento because, It's a open-source ecommerce web application. Magento Development is quite interesting and useful process, which, if applied in the best possible manner, can result in a sudden growth for any enterprise. Also, Magento web development is right on top of all preferred eCommerce solutions on a global scale.

Magento is great but its major drawback is its search, its search is very poor and magento is also very slow it needs a high configuration machine.

Sorry for opening the long forgotten topic, but I have what to say on it as a new user. Yes, it's hard to learn, it's slow, it takes lots of time and efforts. but hey, it's a ready ecommerce platform. find few plugins that cower your needs and you're good to make business. Aim for the powerful big plugins like this not for the small ones. In this way you'll save money and get what you need

Wow I see an old thread came up. But yeah new insights can be really helpful so here's my two cents about it.
It's not the easiest thing to learn definitely. You'll need help of developers for sure. The Magento community, though, is wonderful and helps a lot. Still, the platform has bugs and even the updates take a long time to release.

Magento 2 still is good, but sites built on Magento just don't look very appealing to me.
