We've been using Magento quite a bit. It can be frustrating because it sounds like it's going to be very easy but actually it's complicated - super flexible though and SEO friendly. One disadvantage - it's cost prohibitive for some...we were able to deal with "slow" issues by tweaking the caching.

Magento is a great and powerful web application but I agree that Magento is really slow.

And when you have a marketing department that believes in your product, you can effectively market digishop correctly.

And no, I do not work for Varian. I have to dump crap zencart sites into magetno on a regular basis. I will dig up a demo that has 5000 products on a crap, shared server with the pdo flag on or it would not work. There is nothing slow about magento short of the folks who try to use it.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

So, what you are telling me, is that you picked a DP name that matches an e-commerce app? But you are not involved with with it? The ironing is hard to avoid, would you agree?

With Magento you've got to be very careful with which themes you use and how the checkout process is configured because it's easy for it to not work on some browsers - a whole host of bugs have been found. The modern theme is the most bug-free I've found.

One of my partners used Magento for rather a long time. He says - Using Magento you doomed to optimise it constantly, but not to trade and promote.

Magento is too slow and customizing is bit difficult. and moreover ftp transfer of magento files goes upto 30k+ files which requires almost 4 to 5 hours to transfer this to our host server.
