I figured with all of the "Do you like [insert animal]" I thought I should start a bird thread. I personally love them, and I am currently saving up to purchase a Triton cockatoo. They live around 80-100 years, so he will be my buddy for life. Yes; birds are messy, and can be annoying, but affectionate and loving and just hilarious at times. What are your thoughts on birds? Which ones do you like?
Birds are okay.. I use to have one when I was little I can vaguely remember which type besides the fact that her name was Maria and she was yellow lol.
lol she must have been just a little parakeet, or possibly a cockatiel. If she had anger issues it was more then likely a cockateil hah. It seems like 9 / 10 of those things seem to have attitude problems.
The talking ones are the coolest. I like magpies, but when it's nesting season they keep swooping my damn head. I got hit in the back of the head the other day with the magpies claws... hurt for ages.
ouch! Nice though! Yeah the cockatoo that I want I guess can learn the inteligence of a 2-3 year old child. I know you can actually train them to only crap in there cage as well, but who knows how that is done, becuase I sure know they do not work like dogs!
I like birds enough not to cage them and 'own' them. Anyone who puts a bird in a cage deserves a kick in the nuts.
Oh man! Bird poop, she use to do that a lot and it made the cage smelly I guess you've guessed the bird type correctly !
When I was growing up my mom would have parakeets, I did not like them. But my wife and I had a qauker parrot, there smaller, if hand rised very affectionate, they talk, very smart, they live to 30 years, and they are only 200-300 dallors instead of 1500 dallors like a cockatoo. We had my quaker parrot when my daughter was born and he learn that when my daughter was crying she got attention. So he started crying just like her. He also learn how to whistle and he had a 20 to 30 word vocabulary. He also like being thrown around like a baseball, he would let me lay him down on his back in my hand, I would throw him and he would turn around and fly back to me. But my mother in law left the front door open and he flew out the door over her head (like everything else with her)
Oh ok, but it is ok to cage dogs, cats, and any other animal you can think of. Its not like they are kept in there all the time, and in most cases the last bird I had was given free reign over the house (his cage was almost always open). Infact, I took him out side flying a few times too. That was actually the funnest part. I would take him outside and off he would go. I could see this little black dot way up in the air circling my house (he never flew away, always just circled the house from above). It was fun for him and me. I did kinda worry though as I always kept a lookout for hawks before doing it; his size would have made one tasty treat for a hawk I think.
I had a walk in cage with 30 birds from budgies, canary's,quails and red breasted parrots. It was great waking up in the morning the sound was magic but now only have a cockatiel.
Yeah; I love going to aviaries. Especially the Australian or African ones. The birds of fun and sound nice. How is your cockatiel. Seems like everyone I meet has a huge attitude problem.
I like to watch and playing with parrots but have no time to petting it myself. Birds are good pet and easy to look after. (in my opinion) I really like when i walk pass my neighbor house and their parrot say "Hello" everytime.
I like birds and always have. Unfortunately, people I've known that had birds didn't have people friendly birds so I never got the chance to hold/pet one. The only real bird experience I've had (other than occasionally seeing other people's birds) was when my grandfather's bird was staying with us. I think he was a cockatoo? He was really loud and my parents used to joke about cooking him for dinner if he didn't shut up. Anyway, I'd like to get a bird one day. I was thinking that when I get one, it will be a Maximilian Pionus Parrot. A people friendly one. So I ca handle him and let him out of the cage.
I like them. Mine is bi-poler though. he will only let me touch him, but when his wings grow back he hates even me.
