Okay so maybe the title isnt exactly how it should be but technically it is right in many cases. The question is, how do you write for your visitors and in what "theme" or "capacity" do you write? I personally write, well how I am, it comes accross genuine, and builds the type of trust that I want my end user to see and feel. But what content writing technique do you find more effective or interesting? Granted there are days when I want to go and find a good technical paper on something and start geeking on. But most of the time the information will come accross in a more personal manner. This also leads to a less "boring" site and will keep your visitors coming back. So is there a right and wrong way to write content? Just trying to find out what digital point members think about this topic Brad
I try not to give wrong impression. I have done a site for featuring antiques. The images I used show the flaws in the pieces. I see no reason to sugar coat the issue. If someone buys I want them to know what they are getting. Shannon
I don't lie. But even if I did, you wouldn't be able to belive that... As smyrl says, there is no reason to gloss over stuff but I don't think you need to emphasize it either. Only bring enough attention to it to stay in integrety with your customers. Then really emphasize the rest. Trust is the worst thing to abuse online.
i too write in a personal way, but not too (i forgot what's the word, but it means not serious). i like readers to think that i am actually talking to them or soemthing.
I try to write in the same vein as that great journalist: Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Seriously, I just try to shoot with people. I live it like I write it, I write it like I talk it, I talk it like I walk it, and it's alllllllllllll me. If they don't like where I'm coming from and how I approach things, then I don't need to be dealing with them anyway. Of course, it's why my girlfriend usually asks for help and places the pizza orders.
I think trying to be honest when it comes to content writing technique is still the best thing to do..
I have always requested my writers create content with a warm and personal touch throwing in the occasional light hearted comment or reference. My philosophy is... I believe if you can stir up a positive emotion in your reader (make them laugh, feel warm and fuzzy, relate to what you're saying) then selling them further information that will do exactly the same about a related topic doesn't require the hard sell at all. Thanks for the topics guys, it was my thought that this is how most people write, however seeing a few websites recently gave me the idea to post about it Brad
When is keyword elite coming out? I use SEO elite... it's a very nice tool. But I have been doing so much PPC lately, I think the new software may be beneficial to me as well. (sorry to change the subject)
i dont lie .. cause i felt people will trust u if u don t lie .. my site reutrning visitors daily increase by 5% ..
It wont be too long until it comes out . If you check out our blog in my signature we are doing updates through there. And will be posting some video's soon of the different functions and sections of the software. It will be something to be reckoned with. Brad.
Having recently started my first content oriented site which could border on the technical, I've decided to go the Joe Smoe route. I want the things I write to be understood easily, so I write as if I'm busy explaining things to an average non geeky person.
No, lying is only good if you want to trick the visitors - making them think that you're against a certain site.
I don't really lie so to say, but I try to be politically correct when writing my "news" items for my football site. When I write my columns though, I put my own opinions in it. Ironically, people usually start lashing out at me when I post my columns due to my objectiveness towards a certain team
Writing is something that puts your core foundation of what you are in front of the visitor. We don't lie to our visitors but we write lies in a realistic manner, which impresses the visitor and gives us work simultaneously. Wise writing is most welcomed. Gaining trust through wise writing certainly helps you to get the work done.
The rule of advertising is to accent the positive and downplay the negatives. We refer to this as "promotion". Is that the same as "lying"? Conversly a lawyer will bend and twist the truth to win the case for his client,is this "lying"? And don't even get me started on politicians. It's all subjective semantics isn't it?
It's definitely a fine line because the main goal is to eventually generate sales for your business. However, I find that being as genuine as you can does build relationships and trust. My advice would be not to lie EVER when writing for an audience. They will respect you more for it and then buy products or services based on your recommendation.
