it takes a considerable knowledge base which you can either acquire (opp. cost) or pay a consultant for ($75-$500/hr)
it takes developing content for link building ($10-$50/hr)
it takes sending out link request email, low ROI ($min. wage - $10/hr)
it takes using PRO SEO tools ($100-$500 a month)
it takes hiring a programmer to tackle technical challenges and difficulties ($25-$50/hr)

not free, but typically a good ROI.. that is until the algo updates and you lose all of the gains you made.

 

There are a wide and varied selections of methods including getting your keywords to page one and gain organic traffic that will be targeted. Article marketing used to be a good route until the new content farming rules of Feb. 2011. When you create or update a new page on your website or blog bookmark and ping them in order for them to be indexed quicker by the main search engines. Using twitter to build a niche related following is good for sending micro messages with your links and building a Facebook fanpage is also good for your advertising.A Squidoo lens is good and easy to do and especially if your flogging affiliate products. Joining forums that have a high PR and allow signatures will create linkjuice for your website if the pages are followed by the search engine bots. Use the free Google keyword tool before you start any campaign and look for phrases with low competition and even limited data, as long as the product is popular or there's a market for it.

You know, there are tons of ways to generate free traffic but you want to focus on one thing only that will give you a biggest impact for considering your blog for your time. How to get traffic? There are many ways to get a lot of traffic. Here are the ones that are used more often:

1) SEO. Yeah, it's an old strategy, but it still works. It's a little bit harder to get high rankings these days, but it's still worth the efforts. Especially, if you outsource backlinks. You can use my quality link building service, if you want.

Some key points: dont use broad match keywords. When you're doing keyword research using Google keyword tool, use exact match. That will tell you exactly how many people are searching that exact keyword per month.

Another important thing is to understand your competition. You have to fail a couple times, before you can estimate your competition properly. Use SEO for firefox plugin for this.

So, the next step is to build links. You can use my service if you want or you can build them by yourself, but I WARN you - it's very boring

2) This is my favorite - traffic from JV partners and affiliates. You need a product, but creating a product is easy. Just take a PLR product and order new graphics and change the title. Then try to recruit affiliates. Offer at least 75% commissions. Go there and find people in your niche. Then, figure out what they need. For example, they might have a membership site. Tell them that if they promote your product, you will give them 2 hours worth of video content if they promote for you. That's how you recruit affiliates.

Another great thing, that Im actually doing right now, is interviewing experts. I will create a product from 10-15 interviews and then ask these people to promote for me. Many of them already said yes, without me asking them

Also, another very important thing about recruiting affiliates is to make sure your offer converts well. It should make at least a dollar per click for affiliate.

3) Video marketing. Just grab a couple PLR articles and read them. If you dont know where to find them, search for "free PLR articles". Then submit videos to YouTube. Then build some backlinks.

4) Guest blogging. Just find blogs in your niche and offer to write a blog post for them in exhange of a link to your site.

One of the best way to gain traffic is by trying to do guest posts. Get in contact with some of the high rollers in your niche and see if they are willing to take up your offer.

 

Great Suggestions so far (many I have not thought of).

1. I suggest making sure you are solving people problems. I like the idea of creating a tool that draws people to your site again and again. Offer them something that helps them. I created a Backlink Checker for SEO. Traffic is up. Lots of traffic creates even more traffic by increasing your site rank.
2. Use Google Analytics and insure that you have good numbers (low bounce rates, high return rates and lots of page views per visitor). Google is in the business of solving people's problems one search at a time. Their entire business is build on giving the best answer every time. It is a numbers game. When you use Analytics, you give them(Google) the numbers.
3. Also, remember that YouTube is owned by Google. Search for just about anything and in the first page or two of results you will find a couple videos. Sometimes there is an opportunity to rank first page results with a video when you would not rank in the top 10 without it.

sometimes the best answer to your question can come just from anywhere around you meaning if you want free traffic without exerting any much efforts then use your network of friends, ask them to help you spread your website around your community.

Yes SEO and Link Building is effective in a sense that it can provide you long term results but if you are looking for an immediate traffic for your site then you have to exert efforts on Social Media and building community dedicated for your site.

if you are that very knowledgeable with what your website is offering like a product or service then dedicate a time to create contents that will create interest, like tips, advantages, benefits, etc.

To get follow-up traffic, always offer something as a form of gifts like coupons, ebooks, video tutorials, or even a free trial services, or whatever that maybe in exchange for the information you may need to be in contact with your followers.

Again there are a lot of ways to get traffic but this needs dedication and focus to really achieve traffic specifically from this different methods
