There's tons of ways to get free traffic. In the past I've used article marketing, guest blogging and even Yahoo answers. It all depends on how much time you want to put into it.

 

I did a blog post today about a really great free traffic method. Check out the links in my sig and go to the home page. It's the first post. With that said, there are tons of great ways to get free traffic. My favorite way is through social media sites such as million dollar network and IM loop. As well as forums such as this one and WF

There are disadvantages of free traffic method. One of them is you need tedious work. The example is SEO. Another example, article marketing, not just you need to write tons of articles, your articles can also get deleted by the article directory site. According to my own opinion, PPC is the easiest, fastest, laziest method to get traffic, but the disadvantage is you need to pay per click. But I have PPC method with zero investment needed.

 

You can keep doing the SEO work and you can see the final effect one day! It is a long-term project.
Anyway, social bookmark and aticle submission are both good ways to traffic development!

the moral? make an investment and don't build your business on 'free' or 'easy' traffic, because that traffic is finicky and will leave you hungry, wishing you had invested in a consistent source of traffic.

Best way of generating free traffic is to go the route of the article submissions, you can target high traffic article directories like Ezinearticles, as the search engines still love article directories and they do get high PR, even after Panda

 

Doing SEO = free traffic. It can't get more free than that.
