"and also need to pay for impressions"

Adwords is called PPC, because you Pay-Per-Click. Impressions don't count.

You only pay for clicks with Google AdWords. And the price you bid is the MAXIMUM you will pay. So, for example if you bid $1, you will never pay more than $1 for that click, however you might pay less than $1 per click if your Quality Score/CTR is high.

    Your question has been answered.

You dont pay for impressions. Only clicks.

If you have a maximum cost per click of $1.00 you will pay this or close to this each time your ad is clicked, irrespective of the number of impressions.

The pay-per-click is true but becareful about how much you set as the maximum you are willing to pay out per day for each ad you want to post.

I recommend that if you do not have a lot of money to spend then just posting free classified ads to generate interest because ppc's can add up fast and you'll soon be out of money and having to pay off a large bill that you may not have the funds for.

Are you saying that you set the maximum cost per click for your Campaign to one dollar but you set the maximum cost per click for one keyword to 3.39?

If this is the case, you are saying to Adwords "I am willing to pay 1.00 max cost per click for my campaign except when this keyword is triggered. When this keyword is triggered i am willing to pay a max CPC of 3.39"

You can set a max CPC for your whole Campaign but you can also set max CPC for individual keywords. This value can be higher or lower than the max CPC set for your whole campaign.

If you set a bid as 1$ then you are telling google that it is your reservation price to charge you max $1 per click.. not necessarily charge you complete $1 for click.. you can be charged lesser

You've set it to preferred bid, not maximum - go to campaign settings, look for 'keyword bidding', click 'view ands edit bidding options' - if you set it to maximum limits, then you will not pay more than that per click. If you set it to preferred bidding, your cost per click gets averaged out, so you may pay more for individual clicks. But you are still paying for clicks. NOT impressions.

Put a specific bid for that keyword.

Tick the keyword, go to Keyword Setting and put a bid you want to pay for that keyword

You've still got it set to Preferred CPC.
