I don't put a visible stats counter anywhere on my site. I do, however, use some analytical tools that do the same basic thing (although only visible to me). Google Analytics is one, another is a company called GetClicky (http://www.getclicky.com). Of the two it appears that Google is more accurate, but GetClicky is easier to navigate and use.
I use the free version of eXTREME Tracking to track my uniques and some extra information, besides i would love to know about the awstats... please lemme know how to get it>?? i have Cpanel hosting on my directory!
awstat : 1. doesn't provide realtime stats 2. even some bot are consider as visitor(not sure about this) 3. ... 4. log are depending on your own hosting storage 5. no on-exit click or exit page statcounter : 1. realtime stats 2. script advantage for showing up stats on homepage 3. ... 4. You need to upgrade if you want to increase the log 5. You know where your visitor visit last and out to where.
tks for the short summary..... but it seems like statcounter is better than awstats on all counts except the part abt log size. Is that right?
Google analytics does the job for me. It is more than just a statistics tool and I am really happy with it.
We use (are you ready) a combination of: statcounter (invisible), reinvigorate, mint and Google analytics. Not all 4 on any one directory, but really just a variety across them all because no one stats package offers everything we are looking for. Right now, the best combo is statcounter and google analytics. I like statcounter because it allows me to go in and look at each individual path. It helps me understand the flow for certain category submissions. G analytics is great because of the high level conversion data that can be sliced and diced by referrer and keyword. We have Mint on a few, because, well we paid for it and its OK, not the best for tracking but we mostly use it if other stats seem funky. Reinvigorate, we just started playing around with, and it seems to be really nice. Could give statcounter a run for their money...... We tried extreme tracking but found it to be to cumbersome when trying to differentiate between our web sites.... (especially compared to the ease of stat counter, however I think I suffer from attention deficit disorder).
problem i find with statcounter is its high costs.... may try out awstat if i can figure out how to install it
