Do you have to put your physical address on your ad in ANY business?

    Hi,

I am now helping my wife's business in Canada. We use a website but it's not selling any products on line. She does some kind of a personal one on one trining so her clients have to contact her anyway by e-mail or phone.

The actual training is not done at home (home office) and we don't want put our personal (physical) address on line. (We don't mind putting the phone number...rather we want to).

We are thinking about using adwords but wondering about its terms of service on this matter.

Actually I am used to Adwords but I am selling stuff on the Japanese market and the Jp law requires to put your physical address when you sell things on line so I did so anyway but I have no idea when it comes to not actually "selling" on the site.

    I have 2 questions.

1: In adwords terms of service, does it say that we have to show our physical address regardless you sell something online or not?

2: We live in Canada now. Does anyone know about any Canadian law or bylaw which says something about it? If not, what about in your country?

    Any information is appreciated.

(Again, please note my wife does not sell things on line. Her clients are going to pay AFTER they meet her and get the training.)

    Thanks.

Google Adwords is used to improve your website traffic more than anything. Therefore, no online viewer will ever see your address if you don't put it on your website. As you probably know you can tailor your site as you wish.

You should also know that there is much more to know than to just set up an Adwords campaign. It takes a lot of editing your website to improve quality score. It takes a lot of keyword research to be successful etc. Take some time to do some research on how to make a quality campaign before you go live with it. There is a lot to know.

You will never have to disclose your address in Canada via Adwords. As Grumio says, as long as the address is not on your website, then there is no way of anyone finding out. You can also include your phone number on the advert which is a great tactic as some people will make a call rather than click and therefore save you some money. The phone number will also be converted into a Skype button unless you edit it.

    Thanks guys!
    Great info for us!

Sometimes you have to consider both about the law and about Adword's TOS and I was working in Japan(or Japanese market) for a long time where you need to put your address so it was a bit confusing.

    Thanks again!
