That assumes your IP address stays the same. Personally, my favorite trick is to modify my user agent string (I use Firefox with a switcher plugin). The server then checks for this "secret" (an unique) text in the user agent string and doesn't track it, hides the ads, etc. This way, I don't worry about changing IPs. Downside: if I use another computer, then it won't work. Luckily, 99.99% of my online time is through one computer so it's ok.
dont worry about a script. simply search on google for ADSENSE+HOST+FILE EXTREMELY SIMPLE. and noone from your home computer will ever see adsense ads. on all browsers
Personally I enjoy seeing adsense on other sites. If I see something interesting, I click and check out the site. If everyone blocks adsense, we won't have it anymore will we.
heck ill give the instructions myself on how to do it, go to C:windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts open the HOST file into notepad ad the following lines at the end. # [Google Inc] 127.0.0.1 adwords.google.com 127.0.0.1 pagead.googlesyndication.com 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com 127.0.0.1 adservices.google.com 127.0.0.1 imageads.googleadservices.com 127.0.0.1 imageads1.googleadservices.com 127.0.0.1 www.googleadservices.com 127.0.0.1 apps5.oingo.com i know this will block adsense ads.. but if you have an ADWORD account you will probably be unable to use it.. i dont know if it will cause any other problems... but if it does, you can simply delete the lines
me too... but if your afraid of kids clicking your sites or spouses doing thr same, this will permanately stop them
it pays to be careful not to click on your ads! no nightmares but I definetly avoid clicking on them! Mark
here's a nice article for those having nightmares clicking on their own ads. EDIT: I am not too sure if i should start a new thread for this...looks pretty relevant to this one.
Good question.. Regarding nightmares, offcourse yes . I've a lot since i got banned from adsense in my first application after reaching a $280. btw. Actually it's not a big problem for me as evenif i accidently clicked on my ads it won't hurt. It's becoz i'm on dialup & no problem with a static IP..
i would have to agree with you to a point. It will show a different IP each time... but it will show the same provider and that could raise flags. i think... correct me if im wrong
I don't have nightmares about myself clicking the ads but I keep telling my friends to not click them whenever they ask me about my sites..
The bad thing is that: 1) Because the ads are contextually relevant to stuff *I* like to post about, the ads are often something I'd like to click-on. I wish Google would just filter self-clicked ads from your revenue, much like how Amazon filters the associate links for "personal use" and just does not pay for those items. 2) In a similar vein, my friends often share the same interests as I do - after all, that's one reason why we came-together to become friends. Thus, they fall into the "hey, that's an interesting ad" when visiting my site also. The whole "you might get banned!" thing is pretty stressful when worrying about stuff like that. For myself, I use a GreaseMonkey script in Firefox that will not let me click on ads with my pub-xxxx number in them. Of course, seeing as I lack any kind of real focus on my (currently only) site, I don't make any money to speak-of, so that helps reduce the stress Someday, I'll get around to building a "real" site... Mike
What does Adsense Team say about this? As a developer for our website's we can accidentally click on our ads, so Google should do something about this. Something like amazon does,
I found yesterday a script that blocks clicks from your own computer. It uses Firefox, greasemonkey (firefox extension) and a greasemonkey script. I didn't tested it yet but it sounds like it does the job.
I use a customized user-agent string at the computers I don't want to see ads. Then it takes one line of PHP to check it and simply disable the ads.
We'r using the script as Tomzx mentioned above. It works wonderfully. Hope this help others too. Cheers, The Guys at MenDNA.com
Great. Is anyone able to modify the code to do what one of the poster proposed: make it so that the link inside the google ads points to the same website but without the "secure" google stuff.
I clicked twice ins last 2 months..one I really need a service advertised..(what's wrong with that?) nothing happens, uuuff
