Do You Have Annoying Floaters?☻☻

Well I would just like to know how many webmasters suffer from eye floaters? They are terribly annoying and for someone like me that spends most of the day staring at a screen makes them worse.

Floaters are deposits of various size, shape, consistency, refractive index, and motility within the eye's vitreous humour, which is normally transparent.

How many people have them is what I would like to know? :)

I have loads of them which is very annoying, its due to my chronic illness most likely parasites such as bacteria, fungi, viruses and other protozoa.

A new wide flat screen lcd monitor greatly improved the situation for me.

Hmmmmmm? I wonder if that is a medical expense? :)

I have one in my right eye, it is annoying sometimes. I think I read somewhere that they are comprised of something that is leftover from birth.

I'm 65 and rarely have floaters. I have bad vision otherwise, but floaters aren't a problem.

I've had them since I was a kid but they're normal as you get older. The only way to get rid of them is for the Drs to suck all the jelly out of your eyeball and replace it with clean jelly.

I reckon I can live with them!

Are you for real? Who told you that? Where the heck do they get "clean jelly" from? That would have to be a weird feeling having your eyeball deflated while they get ready to put more jelly in...

Yup, I have them too. They are a pain in the rear when I drive. Lol you'd think as much time as I spend watching a computer screen every day, they'd bother me then too, but they don't.

I find they irriate me when I'm driving on a sunny or bright day the most.

I had a wee visit to an eye specialist for a different issue. I figure for the hundreds of dollars I spent with him he wasn't bullshitting.

I've got them too (both eyes) and find them incredibly annoying. I usually don't notice them when I'm on a computer though. Usually they bother me when I'm outside. I've heard there isn't too much you can do about them.

I don't know who told him that, but an ophthalmologist told me that. And a couple of medical students, an optician and one or two other people who know about such procedures. It's actually rather a common operation, these days widely done under local anaesthetic.

It's manufactured for the purpose, by people who make surgical supplies, of course.

The operation itself is called "vitrectomy", you can probably find it on Wikipedia if you want to know a little more about it.

No, not at all: I study "history of medicine" a bit, and know quite a few medical people; that's all. ;)
