    I think dropouts will amke it to higher places... they actually dont have any hope of getting a job and so they work hard and build their own business or something and some succeed like the Gates...

    Ahem... and me studied 4 years B.Tech in IT, still 14 papers pending... it has been 15 months since my college was over.. not thinking of going back to college again..!!

    I dont know about that dude. I think it's more about work ethic and real life experiences which some employers prefer. It's not all about the "uni degree".

    It's different in different places...in developed economies there are plenty of jobs...so even people without degrees can get ahead.

    On the other hand, in developing economies like India , if you dont have a degree, it is very unlikely that you will get any job except labour work...and labour work doesnt pay much here.

    Yes, I have a degree……and a huge student loan to show for it.
    And you just may be right about that thing that dropouts may work harder in life cause they have nothing else to fall back on.
    But no, I had to get a comp sci degree, thanks to pushing of my close minded parents (who think that the only way to succeed in life is to have advanced formal education)…..and me being an idiot and listening to them….

    Bachelor of Computer and Electrical Engineering for me.

    I do work as a Software Engineer, so I do work in a similiar field to my degree, but I don't use most of what I learned in school ;)

    Yea right if you want to be working at McDonalds the rest of your life. I don't understand how people cannot go for their degrees? Yea I know you want to be successful starting a business, and so do I. But I have a back-up plan incase I fail (Which I will probably do, I have failed all my "internet" ventures I have been doing since I was 16) and it's sad to see my friends not go to school because they believe they won't need it. In school they teach you many different things about business/economics that you would not know if you didn't go to school.


    Yes most of they stuff they cover in class I already know about it but I think I'm the only one -- I've been studing business/internet since 16: reading PRs, reading books and magazines, listening to my best friends father. Overall School has taught me many different and interesting things. And I hopefully will learn more in my next two years.

    Well i have ICS ( Intermediate In Computer Studies ) degree
    and now i just finished exams of BS-ACS ( Bachelor Of Science In Advance Computer Studies ) and in few months i will get its degree as well.

    I started last year my degree in Computer Science but had to drop out because of family problems:( . This year I think I’ll just enrol in my local Uni and take Buisness or something similar. :confused:
