Well I have a sports news site and I was thinking about using it to get more traffic. I'm thinking of posting in the sports forums linking to one of my articles on my page. At least I could get some young adults coming to my site, although I'm not sure the average age that browses sports websites. I'm guessing it's all ages.

Not yet but over the last month or so I have seen more and more threads about myspace and am considering taking a look in to it.

I know a few people who have been able to successfully market their site through myspace. A lot of their content related to a younger audience, so they were pretty popular. I think its a good source to get some traffic to your site. :)

I created an account for promoting my forum, but I haven't put much effort into it, yet.

Ugh... I hate MySpace spam and I always report it when it clogs my inbox. I hope this is not the way site owners are going to go...

    I don't.

The work you do drawing in myspace traffic would be better spent drawing in non-myspace traffic. Any traffic you get from myspace would be non-targetted anyhow--just a bunch of your new "friends" that would visit your site once and probably never return.

    Regards,

    Duncan

Your site would have to be promoted at teens, or something that teens are interested in.

If you think myspace isn't good for targetted traffic you need to dig a bit deeper.

If you put up a subdomain about keeping gerbils and hamsters as pets or about pilates or about best ira's and retirement funds - or ANYTHING -

I'll bet you that I can get you 200 members in 10 days using only myspace, and they'll be highly targetted people who are interested in that specific topic.

If I loose, you get whatever traffic and memberships I've generated.

If I win, I get $2000. But you have to put it in an escrow account before I start. :D

I'll take almost any challenger on almost any (reasonable) niche with that, too.

I only saw the ability to be able to get a free "site" of your own.

The entire internet is a paradise for pedophiles and sicko's my friend. The only thing that matters is your own intention.

Anyhow - new test results posted at iamjonathan.com stay tuned for more every day, too . . .

I promote one of my websites on MySpace:

    http://www.myspace.com/hustlerpanties

But I have not, nor will I ever, spam. We really do just give away free lingerie to our MySpace "friends" :). New employees always look at me funny when I tell them to go add friends to our MySpace account...haha

I think something needs to be clarified here . . .

Regardless of how it "feels", there is NO SUCH THING as myspace spam.

    It's a big ass OPT-IN social network.

Sure you can "report spam" but that's really alot of bs. Tom spams people every day. Your friends and neighbors spam you every day.

If it's targetted and relevant, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'f you're selling shoes to leg amputees, then that's distasteful and you're lame.

But if your promoting a site about one legged tea pickers in Tibet to a Myspace group of Tibetan amputees then you are providing value added service.

    lol

Yes there is. I get it about once a week. You don't have to be someone's "friend" to send them a message on MySpace.
