Do you go to the movies for a new release? Or Wait for the dvd to come out?

I think it's too expensive these days to go to the movies. Especially when you have a large family such as mine.
Easier to wait for the dvd to come out.
Then for one price of a dvd we can all relax and enjoy in our own surroundings

DVD's are good, but nothing compares to sitting in the movie theater, looking at the big screen, waiting through the countless previews, and getting annoyed at the large lady in front of you munching on nachos and cheese...

I'm spoiled. About the only way I ever want to go see a movie is a place in town called Alamo Drafthouse theatre. You can eat a meal and drink while you watch the movie!! But it gets expensive and quick (especially if you have beer!!)

but you can't beat the experience :D as far as movie going goes!!

but 99/100 we wait for the DVD's

If the movie is something that I have been dying to see then I'll watch the movie as soon as it is released.

It's not about the money, I think it's more about the idea.
If your the kind of person who likes to watch a movie more than once. Then ofcourse get it DVD. Also if your the kind of guy who likes the big screen, and loves to enjoy a good movie with great sound and graphic effects. Then stay in the Cinema.

A trip to the theatre is about more than just seeing a movie. It is a chance to get out and do something different. We try to get out to a movie about once a week just to have a little fun.

Obviously there are many choices as to what you want to watch. So we tend to watch the extra special stuff at the movies and wait for the DVD for others.

I love to see movies at the theater!

But really, I would go just for the popcorn! Every week they have a "bring your own bucket" night. You bring in your own (ANY size) bucket and they fill it with popcorn for 50 cents!

If the movie is being really over-hyped and looks interesting, I'll go to the theatre, but otherwise I'll wait to rent the DVD at home.

We are fortunate to have a dollar theater in our city. The movies play for a couple of weeks at the high priced theater, then they movie to the dollar show and then to DVD. We like the dollar theater very much. There we can even afford the popcorn.

I wait for DVD as I find it better watching a movie in the comfort of my own home. I dont like the cinema as I dont find the atmosphere to be as good. Yes it has a sound system like no other, but horror movies and the likes dont feel the same in a cinema. They are better at home, in the quiet, feeding your face while watching it in the dark. Well at least IMO it is :)

And anyway for the cinema where I like it is something like £5 per person (rough transfer: $10 per person) and the DVD costs between £15 - £20 (about $30/$35 per DVD). And people wonder why there is so much piracy happening in the UK and elsewhere in the world with such prices. It is extortion and it seems as if it is ok for them to commit such acts, but it is not ok for us to retailate. AYE RIGHT!.
