Do you get notified?

Just curious. I have been very patient (almost 3 years now) and I haven't gone crazy about posting about this or re-submitting.

My question is does DMOZ notify you if your site has been reviewed?

No notification is sent because none is needed, and volunteer time is far better spent building and improving the directory. :)

If the site is listed in the directory, you will see it anyway.

If it is not listed, there are two possibilities:
    1. The site does not meet the Selection Criteria. There is no need for DMOZ to tell you that when you can check for yourself.
    2. No volunteer has yet looked at the site. There is no point in telling you that something has not yet happened, and nobody knows when it will happen.
However, because the AOL servers crashed in 2006 and many site suggestions were lost, if your only suggestion was before then, you are welcome to suggest your site once more. :)

Yup, no notification is sent. I just realize that an old site of mine was included after seeing it in the logs of my analytics program. I had submitted like many many months back...and I didn't even know it was approved.

In addition to her two bullet points above... I'd add a third.

    MISPLACED SUBMISSIONS
If a site gets submitted to the wrong place it slows down (or possibly kills) acceptance, because often the editor that reviews it finds it is in the wrong place and doesnt have priviliges to add it in the RIGHT place. They then ship it to the right place where it again sits in a queue waiting for attention.

Its just weird where some sites get submitted. Regional categories get submissions that in no way corresepond to the geography, sites go to topical categories that are not associated with the cat to which they were shipped, sites are often sent to top level cats when they clearly belong deeper in the structure, etc.

Many of course are simply shotgunned to a plethora of categories (an unfortunate side effect of having the submission be free). I doubt they'd have done the same if they'd been hit on their credit card for each submission. Its a simple fact that a free directory will get more spam to the detriment of everyone involved.

    TRANSLATION:
Those that spam directories or send submissions to the wrong place are largely responsible for slow response times.
Coincidentally, they are often the same people who loudly complain about slow response times they helped create.

A misplaced or shotgunned submission to a directory does NO service for the sender or for those in the queue that couldve been addressed while someone handled misplaced submissions.
It pays to submit it to the right place.
