Hello everyone so i was wondering for meta tags do you get different ones for different pages or do you have to keep the same ones for the whole domain?

    Thanks Drunkglitch

Yes, you can have different meta tags on different pages. AND, if you want to rank well in Google, then you SHOULD have different meta tags for each page. Each page's meta tags should be very relevant to the content that's on that particular page. Don't load your meta tags full of keywords that aren't relevant to the page... Google doesn't like that. Each page should be laser-targeted to rank for only one or two keywords.

In fact, Google hates that so much that they've ignored keywords in meta tags for years.

Well said from chrismcgowan, and right to the point!

In case it is a Wordpress setup:
I would just like to add that this is just as important for content submitted as "posts" since these all act as "pages" when it comes to SEO.

each meta tag specific for that page should be fine, although google doesn't check them anymore

Yes! It is actually recommended to use different meta tags on all you pages as some search engines see that as differential content!

In terms of SEO, you can use different content in meta tags for each web page. if you create title and meta tags according to web page content then it will too good and you will increase the visibility on major search engine
