So, what's SU exactly? I never try... Someone to explain how I can benefit from it? Is it somewhere I can submit a site? I didn't see how to do that on the site. So then, what's SU?
For me traffic from Stumbleupon is sporadic, but if you're looking to get constant traffic from them, I would create a blog, post a new blog post every day and stumble that post. The more you regularly have something to stumble there, the more traffic you will get from them.
SU traffic is untargetted? For those who say that, they clearly need to market better on SU... SU users chose the topics that interest THEM, and unless you can make good enough content to insure that they like it, you need to brush up on your skills. An example is that I had a blog averaging 50 - 100 uniques a day. Since I've started SU marketing, im now averaging around 500 UNIQUES! I have even reached 30,000 page views on just ONE atricle. The trick? Make sure to stumble it in the right category where you will get the most targetted traffic and if your article is good enough, you will get a lot of traffic. And as for those who said it doesnt convert - well I did have a small increase in clicks, but I also managed to get LOADS of visitors along with over 200 comments due to SU.
Personally I do get return visitors from stumbleupon - but yes: direct stumbleupon traffic goes up and down (not as much as digg though).
You can't do that. After a while stumbleupon will ignore your thumbs up. You can't thumb up more than 5 pages from the same site (which is why squidoo has stopped promoting stumbleupon on their site, I think) and have it count. After roughly five the thumbs up will just be ignored. What does work is when someone else has already submitted a particular page - to go back and make sure it has the correct tags and is submitted to an appropriate category. If not: change the category and add correct tags.
Totally agree. Read the bolded parts, people. When you say poor traffic or non-converting, think again; do you have content that will APPEAL to their interest? If you are marketing a "make money online" website.... Needless to say, such topic does not appeal to SU community's interest and will get lots of thumbs-down. You are right in saying that the traffic doesn't convert... simply because you attract the wrong kind of visitors. You need to tailor your niche to suit their interest.
