Do you find Yahoo answers reliable?

I am very irritated with the Yahoo answers. They are always irrelevant to the queries I post. It has happened three times in a row. In the last query, I got a link about how exciting it is to visit an exotic place with an escort. I wonder what made me join that forum. Has anyone ever been associated with that cheap site? What has been your experience? Were you successful in getting a reliable answer? I am sure that it would have been a pathetic response from their end. Can this site be banned? I think they are good for nothing.

 

I'm in the same boat. I hate them. I use eHow for certain things. Much more concise, written by humans and laid out well, although that vibrating advert must cause epileptic fits!

Yahoo Answers look like they have been answered by someone walking across a keyboard.

 

it was originally a good idea, but has now been taken over by spammers and marketers, trying to use it to gain backlinks. Yahoo try to police it, but rely on obvious spam being flagged, which is obviously a hit n miss affair.

 

Depends what it is. I hate it when stupid people post stupid answers.

 

you must be kidding me if you even for a second think you will get expert answers on yahoo..its an open area where any one can write what ever he/she wishes. Kinda fun right

On the other hand yes, sometimes those answers give you both sides of the story, pro and con. So its like a little help in case you are preparing for a GD

 

Yahoo answers have been really pathetic and I have refrained myself from clicking any serp links that I get directing to it... for my searches.

I agree. More and more spammer are trying to buuld link using yahoo answer to get traffic and that's why this happen.
Yahoo answer is getting worse and worse nowadays

 

Its good depending on the question, but Yahoo is going down hill and I don't like Yahoo whatsoever.

Though I don't directly use yahoo answers I would prefer them when I come across in Google search. And noted that most of the Google's ranked Yahoo answers are good or at least makes sense to my research. However, I think there is no point to get irritate with what's happening in Yahoo answers as we can get many other useful sources online. If I experience the same as how it happened to you, I will take as an experience to learn something new. It's just that's simple how you take things that comes your way

Yes, we cant completely rely on yahoo answers. Not all the members are loyal to provide answers. So we need to pick right one somehow. or better to search on net.

It was good idea but again... spammers win and destroy it for everybody.

PS: I just wonder how you managed to get your account banned as their policy is quite linient. You must've spammed a lot . Great work.

 

yeah, Yahoo answers are one of the good services yahoo offered back then.. but now, it is quite different..

though I guess I am lucky for I can still get across with people who post relevant answers and not just to spam..

@Thread starter you came up with a very good question.

As we know at times at the Yahoo main page there are Q&A which actually lead to Yahoo Answers, and as to the validity of the answer it's really hard to ascertain. For example I remember once the question was "why birds fly in a V shape?", there was only one answer (tentative), and we don't know if Yahoo actually know of the answer or not and the Q&A was actually published in their main page.

 

I don't specifically visit yahoo answers, but occasionally it will show up near the top when I search for something and it sometimes happens to answer my question. There are many times that it is a waste of my time though. So sometimes it works for me and sometimes not. I guess maybe it depends on the question. Some of the replies can be humorous.

 

yahoo answers are EXTREMELY low-quality but have very good ranking in google, it looks like they treat it like a reference or something
it is time that google noticed it and devaluate their ranking and treat that website like a regular forum

 

I completely agree with your perspective as still some good people out there who takes it seriously and try to reveal the correct answer, there's no harm in getting a good backlink or traffic from it if you can provide a relevant information same as a forum site.
