For PPC, Adwords is the best. You will never find a larger content network than adwords. Meaning... aside from the PPC results shown in the search results, Google also has more ads being shown on individual websites than any other PPC network. There is no contest...

As far as other things are concerned though, Facebook kicks the shit out of google in many ways!! :)

One of things that makes Facebook so awesome is the ability for your content to become something that is immediately available, can spread from user-to-user virally, and can be INSTANTLY accessed, the moment it is published/created there. This is something that Google simply can't compete with, at the very least it takes days to get fully indexed/crawled by Google, and then you need to do a lot MORE work to improve your SE rankings. For this reason, Facebook is currently THE BEST site on the internet to use to make money, without spending any.

After you understand the site, it is easy.

We can consistently setup apps that make $100-$200 their first day, without spending a dime to drive the traffic. You couldn't expect the same results from Google without doing 10X as much work to constantly improve rankings in addition to waiting for your site to get indexed.

Not to mention, I think we all saw what happened in Iran over the past few weeks, how Twitter in particular was used to spread the word around the world.... THIS is the instant search ability IN ACTION! Searching like this, for current and INSTANT news from up-to-the-second Tweets from real people is the epitome of sharing information quickly and concisely online.

I am just telling you, now Facebook is implementing a similar feature as Twitter's "Trending Topics"... This is going to be a game changer people, pay attention! :)

Google is more popular then facebook. But if your site is going to target teens and young adults, you may want to consider Facebook.

Hard to tell without knowing your niche. Facebook can be great for selected products/services/offers but 95% of the time Adwords will give you better results, especially if you want to actually SELL something.

It all really depends on what you are advertising too. I would do testing on both just to find out what works best for what your offering. For all you know Google may not be of any great use or Facebook may not be.

    Testing Is Best!

Ask this question to yourself about the product you wish to sell. If you are looking to buy <XYZ> where would go. Google or facebook and it would answer all your doubts.

Focus on Google with with organic SEO and PPC campaigns. Then diversify your traffic vendors to sources like facebook for example. The best traffic you can bring to your site is targeted traffic, that's why visitors comming from google (actively searching for your service) will result in one of the highest conversion rates you will ever get.
