hi, I make pretty good money from internet marketing...more than a lot of people i know personally... but it really irritates me when i try to explain what i do, they look at me and think like i am doing nothing... im making 5 figures a month...and yet people i know still try to persuade me to get a "safe and secure" job... telling me how i can make 5 figures a year...im like what??? im making that in a MONTH man! when i explain what i do (or try to explain), they are not very impressed or think im doing some bs work... so it's like i dont even want to say i do internet marketing or have an internet business... what DO YOU TELL THEM? g
I know people just like. It is very irritating yes I agree. I know someone who thinks computers are a waste of time and you can't make money on them (of course online), he always says the same thing you posted above.
You just have to tell yourself that you are the one calling the decision shoots and no one else better then you, knows what's best for yourself.
It is very hard to explain what your job is when going to begin your business on line. Try to communicate with them. Anyway, they care about you and want you to live better. Show them how much you love your current job is. It is not the problem of money but for interest.
A lot of people I talk to get confused at what I'm doing too, and they also do want me to get a job. They don't have the business thinking and see the opportunity the internet has to offer. They're stuck in the endless rat race. Just say you own a business. making money is business, and if your making money and you don't have a boss, i think you could safely say that you own a business.
This totally depends up to my mood, but most of the time I dedicate myself to help others as I love to help others.
Honestly I stopped trying to explain it, if people ask how I make money I just tell them I make websites.
I do agree, it depends on my mood. For the majority, I love explaining to people what I do for a living. The way I look at it..., If you make money and enjoy your job, I would assume you can explain to someone your daily activities..., even if they are shopping downtown @ 2pm and speaking with your affiliate/advertisers on the cell phone or sitting in your boxers at 9am drafting up emails and organizing your day. Typically, I correlate online marketing to magazines where you can find many ads on many pages or television where we are 'entertained' by ads. Once you find a couple ways of explaining things its really fun to gain people's feedback. Many of my friends are surprised that we are making money 24/7/365. Ads online do not stop. If you work globally you can increase your revenue streams tremendously. How do you generate revenue?
I lived in an apartment with my friends and they have no trouble understanding the type of job I have which is also internet marketing. In fact, I hired one of them to help me do my tasks because it just pops like mushrooms and I have no more room for more Money..ahaha just kidding. anyways, She said she also wanted to earn so I taught her how to.
Does anyone remember when it wasn't a total cliche to say you were either a 'businessman' or an 'entrepreneur'! Now, if people ask you what you do and you dont want to explain, saying you're a entrepreneur = drug dealer and businessman = unemployed wannabe !

Sometimes. I get tired of people assuming my eBook "How One Writer Shifted From Settling For $12 An Hour To Prospering At Over $90 An Hour" is a scam about making money selling eBooks, when it's totally not about that but how to make money writing using job bidding sites like Guru and content sites like Demand Media Studios. I also get tired of well-meaning family members telling me it's ridiculous to spend MY money on marketing training, whether live, on CDs, or over the phone. But I also know how much I and others make and the even bigger potential, so I try not to dwell in distress. Great topic! Stephanie
I get that sort of criticism from my family especially my mother lol. I don't have a real job blablabbla I generally say a real job is something that generates income legally. Either way online work is the job of the future people who don't get that are stuck in an old mindset. Don't pay any attention.
