I know it doesn't take much time to write meta keywords when you're already writing page titles and meta descriptions, but is it worth it? Google and Yahoo ignore it altogether. Does it do any good at all?
They ignore meta keywords, the meta description tag is still important. Basically, in the head section you want to focus on the page title and meta description, then move on.
keywords don't play a role like they used to do.the title and description is important.title more then description
Yes, the Title and Description still have great value. Even if it don't help you in SEO, but it helps you in increasing your Click Throughs when you are on Top 10 List.
Yes - may help in your internal search engine if you have one, and I have not been told by Google and Yahoo directly that they do not place any value on them.
Keyword can play some role if they reflect the content of your page. As for your standing in SERPS it looks like no significant value. But for good SEO purposed, you should have them.
Keywords still play a major role. I can bet on it and most of the members are still doing this practise...
google doesn't use the keywords meta tag at all! but that's not to say other search engines don't still use them it it only takes a second to post a few keywords, why not do it
As you said, given how easy it is to just plug in the keywords you're targeting, why not do it.. I don't think Google will ever penalize a site for have meta-keywords. All my best ranking websites have meta-keywords. Of course, the correlation is most probably 95% attributable to the domain age and accumulation of inbound links. But as long as it doesn't hurt, I'm keeping the keywords in there.
In my personal experience, I found that title and description are much important to get positioned on google. but not meta keyword. So concentrate on your meta title and description.
