Just wondering if i should remove some terms that i rank top 10 for from my campaigns? I have spoken to a few ppl half of which keep it on and half of which remove the term from their campaigns once they rank well for the term. Trying to figure out if i am just wasting some clicks for those terms that i can use for other terms. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.
I think you should look for the ROI. Is the ROI from the payed ad in the positive territory? Then you should keep it, unless you have other options to place your money and get a higher ROI.
I rarely do. If your ad is performing/converting well enought to justifty the cost then I don't see a reason to remove it. The natural serps can kick you in out whenever they decide they want to...with PPC you at least have some assurance that your Internet business won't go from booming to busted overnight because becuase Google updated the algo.
lol all of my terms make a loss or just break even but i consider it a cost of acquiring a new customer. as once we have acquired a customer they generally stay with us. atleast 40-50% of our business is repeat business. they perform well but dont convert as good as some other terms. i guess i will just have to look at it and make up my mind. my hope was that i could cut some fat from my campaign and make it perform better.
The technical answer is to retain the pay per click campaign on Overture relative to performance on Yahoo/MSN. But remove it from Adwords relative to Google.
I would assume that the LTV (life time value) of your customers would make it worth while then. I often lose money on the first sale but more than make it up on repeat business. LTV is a very important factor to consider when looking at ROI. Best of luck, let us know how it goes.
I rank #1 on G. but still keep the same keyword on my adwords, but I have a cpc of $1 or so and make between $7-$20. So it doesn't make sense to get rid of it as long as it brings in money um I mean customers.
As far as I can see, since I started Adwords, I also get a heap of traffic from AOL and Ask Jeeves that I didn't get before. Both of these companies place the sponsored ads much more prominently than Google itself does.
Explorer makes an especially good point that Google's ads are served up on several networks, so while you may rank top ten on Google, you may not even appear top 50 on another ad network. If you can slim down on ad costs, maybe by better analysis (if you can, sign up for Google analytics), you might be able to make your campaign much leaner. An example from my own PPC was removal of one broad match word. Ads costs went down and conversion went up. One keyword removed.
I think you meant to say the content network, although, fraudulent clicks can be initiated from anywhere. It's just more common in the content network.
still waiting to get to use google analytics, they closed down the sign ups for that temporarily. heh i wish i could make some changes that would help me lower my costs especially if i could increase conversions. how much do you spend daily?
