No I disagree with that. In the UK, the drugs industry is estimated to have an annual turnover of over 10 Billion GBP. There's no way on the spot fines and such can amount to that kind of figure. Plus, why make criminals out of ordinary tax-paying citizens? It's just not necessary. If the government legalised and taxed drugs, at the same rate as say cigarettes, the revune for the country would be outstanding and could be used for educational purposes and healthcare. There are other benefits too: a few years ago Marijuana was downgraded to a class C drug in the UK (the same classification as prescription painkillers), and they found that use amongst young people actually went down slightly. I'm guessing that full legalisation would remove the mystery and 'coolness' of doing drugs for young people, and they would probably take it less.
I am referring to the USA , not UK. And do you know how much people have to payout who get in trouble with the law relating to marijuana? Hundred-Thousands of dollars in fines. Also, probation costs them money too. Then you have court costs. There is a lot more to it. That is a lot more money being raked in than a few dollars tax on some pot. I disagree with this too. People are going to smoke pot regardless, just as smoking cigarettes is legal but the coolness and mystery still stands firm. A lot more people will smoke bud if it is legal, and smoke a lot more of it they will because it is legal. Just like drinking. With drinking it is legal and the taxes on it are outrageous. Now if they made it illegal, they wouldn't be able to make all of the money they do off of the legal system dealing with drunks drivers and etc.. A DUI here where I live is 3000+ in fines and then probation and court costs on top of it. And they love to make criminals out of ordinary tax paying citizens when caught with marijuana or anything related. As I stated in an earlier post, I have a video series on an ex-cop who is trying to legalize marijuana because he does not feel that it is necessary to put people in jail or ruin peoples lives, take them from their families, take their kids from them, over marijuana when the main percentage are good, honest, hard working citizens who aren't violent and who have no criminal history. The ex-cop also states that they aim at busting and arresting people for marijuana related things.
It's not something to disagree with, its a fact. The statistics show a drop in use whilst the drug was downgraded to the level of prescription drugs. All of the evidence is to the contrary on that I'm afraid. Portugal and the UK both saw huge reduction in drug use when they reclassified marajuana. I've often asked non-drug users if they would take up doing drugs should they become legal. So far, 100% of the people have said no, they would not start doing drugs. For the case of drugs, the threat of punishment has never stopped anyone. That's very bizarre reasoning there. Drink driving has nothing to do with what we're talking about. It's a seperate crime and would happen whether alcohol was legal or illegal, the revenues would still be there.
It's a fact huh. It's not a fact until it has been done. I know a lot of people who smoke pot, by that I mean hundreds, they all say the same thing, they will smoke more pot because it is easier to get, they can smoke it where ever they please, they can't get in trouble with it. People I know who only have tried it a few times say the same thing, because they won't get in trouble with the law. About the drinking skit: I am stating something similar to the situation as an example. And I am talking about the USA, not foreign countries brosef.
Yes, it's been tried in the UK and Portugal with great success. I can't post links yet, but do a search. It's a shame, they've recently reclassified Marajuana up to a class B in the UK, and the drug use went up again. But they're already doing drugs so it won't lead to an increase in drug users, will it?
I used to smoke weed but quit recently along with quitting cigarettes. I'm a medical marijuana user but it didn't really help my medical problems. I'm still a legal grower and plan on donating (selling) my weed to the clinic, legally of course.
I smoke weed pretty much every night after work, it just relaxes me and winds me down after working all day. But as has been said before I do not see weed as a drug. It's not physically addictive, no-one has ever died from using it. period.
But if you read the papers all drugs users are fiends looking for their next fix! Let me roll up a big fat blunt for you
i dont use drugs except prescribed by doctors. if anybody using drug,,he will going to stop soon,,as death will come soon.
nah i dont mess with anything i get down with some weed every now and then but i dont consider that a drug but im not a big fan of it for the same reason i dont like other drugs the anoying risk of being arrested and i hae the crowd it attracts :[
So far the only drugs that i have tried are those drugs over the counter with prescriptions of course i dont want to engage myself into something illegal.
