    I used to have such a hack, it worked for a couple of months, but then it became useless. :(

    I ban the users, delete their posts and if I get too many banned users from the same IP I'll ban that IP.

    Seems to slow them down

    I use visual and email confirmation but I keep the accounts of spammers just to add to the number of users
