Do you buy domain extension bundles?

When you purchase a .com domain for development purposes, do you consider buying the .net/org/info etc. extensions? Which ones? Or are you satisfied with just the .com? Why/why not?

When anyone buys .com for deveopment purpose, they also buy .net and .org because It completes his whole domain portfolio and if they dont do,anybody can register .net or .org and sell to .com owner :)

I would only register the .com extension, I don't really see the point in having the .net and .org, I would not buy a domain name that already has .com registered.. unless it's a very good domain. I am completely satisfied just with getting the .com extension.

I guess it depends on your long term plans for the domains and the kind of domain that you're buying. I've never bought a 'bundle' though - I think mostly they're a waste of money.

However - situations where you might like to buy the same domain name with a different TLD:
    - When you're (for example) a UK company operating with a .com domain. Customers may type in .co.uk by accident, so buy that.
    - When you're a well known brand operating under a .org or a .net - buy the .com to catch customers going there by accident.
    - When you have serious international expansion plans and intend to operate separate sites in every market. Buy domains in your core target markets.

But for your average web startup with a global site and a global audience, just your .com domain will do you fine. And for an affiliate site or similar that relies (for example) on search traffic rather than branded traffic there's no need to buy more than one domain.

If you go global it make sense to register country-level domain names in main countries where you plan to develop your business. People outside US more often type-in their country-code domain first.
