do you build your own landing page or use the signup page?

I've been reading some threads here about people putting work into their own landing pages. To me this seems like a duplication of effort, and an extra step in the signup process.

Why not just send people directly to the offer landing page?

correct me if im wrong but i believe its all about the pre-sale

you have to convince the customer on "your" own LP that this is what they been searching for and why they should click on that link to the merchants page to buy for sign-up for that service or product.

You're much more likely to convert by explaining to the customer what they're signing up for and why they should, as opposed to just sticking a form in there face to fill out.

I'm going to try to build an entire website around an offer, get some SERPs (free traffic), then maybe once that's good do some PPC
