    I blog for the exercise of trying to make a successful blog: high PageRank, AdSense earnings, top serps, etc.

    I don't however let those goals rule the content of the blog. I want every one of my posts to be useful content.

    That is also cool, I really enjoy when I see my blog on the first page in SEs for some good keywords. When you break 100 UV/day, then 200 UV/day, then more :) It's very motivating.

    It depends on the site for me - my personal blog doesn't have any ads and I do it for pleasure and to keep people up to date if I don't see them very often, but my other blogs are there largely to make money.

    Man, if I was blogging for money, I'd have given up a long time ago. I blog because I love to express myself. I can say whatever I want and the truth is, it's my place to say it. Sure, the money I make (if any) is icing, but right now, it's just for fun and it will always be just for fun.
