I believe the New Testament is accurate. However the most important thing is the message.

It cant be accurate unless we have 100% proof that the events in the Bible actually happened.

The Bible is a collection of writings by different people in different times, translated from numerous languages into another. It is acurate sometimes and inacurate others, wouldn't expect any more or less from something like that.

No I don't believe that the Bible is historically accurate. It can't be and it can be proved simply by looking at the creation account in the book of Genesis. Even if the Bible was texted by God to prophets to write down the people that wrote it were interpreting the events based on their knowledge of the world and bias. If God were to ask for the Bible to be written in modern times the end result would be very different even if the general stories were still the same.

Discovery runs bible specials on occasion. This past saturday, I saw an awesome one on Noah's Ark.

It had 2 points. One that the great flood was possible if a comet hit the planet in the middle of the indian ocean causing a worldwide tsunami. A very short flood, which accounts for the lack of evidence. Others dismissed this as unlikely.

But another one, and I like this one (for many reasons) claims that global warming caused the flood. The flood occured in what we know as the red sea (which evidence shows to have been a lot smaller about 8000 years ago). Global warming and the melting of icecaps caused the mediterranean to fill up and carve a channel to the black sea, filling it very rapidly. On the orders of miles a day. The retelling of the story over time blew it up into the great flood.

I think the mysteries of the bible stuff on discovery is absolutely fascinating. It gives both perspectives (biblical and scientific) and lets watchers make up their own mind as to credibility.

In the end, I'd say that the bible isn't terribly accurate. No doubt some of the events happened (in some form), but there are more rational explanations for most of them. But that doesn't really diminish some of the positive messages in there.

No, it is a book of parables with a mix of some possible historical facts. It was meant more as a book of faith not as a book of historical facts.

Some of the stories in the bible fail to correlate with knowledge that have been aquired in recent times in the field of science.

No it was never meant to be a history book. It is a book of spiritual principles and should be read as such.

My personal beliefs on the bible is that it is a collection of true stories that have been exagerated over time. Millions of people joined the cult we refer to as religion and preach it.

It is a book that was written by people who had no idea how certain events and certain things worked in the past. I believe some of the stories told in the bible did actually occur, but not quite as described.
I also believe that God was created as one of these stories, to explain the unexplainable.
So - my answer would be no.

Depends on how accurate the translation is.

If we are talking about the NWT then yes, I can agree that it is accurate. All due to the amount of time and effort so many have put forth voluntarily to ensure the writing's messages are intact.

    Col :)

If the most imprtant thing is the message, then what do you need from the books.

Most of the Bible was edited by the Kings and rulers of its time. So, no, it's not perfect.
