True, there is little proof for the existence of God. However, there is equally little proof for the non-existence of God. Your presuppositions will make one or the other seem obviously right. However, you are just "curve-fitting" the data. P.S. It is impossible to be truly objective by our very natures.
True. However, you are missing the other half. You can't scientifically DISprove it. In fact what proves science? Why is it accepted that what can be seen and measured is all that exists (or that it explains everything)? If you accept that, you are assuming it to be true. Vice versa as well.
Yes. I believe in God (The Father, The Son And The Holy Spirit), And He loves me forever. I am a Catholic in Thailand.
Nor is there any evidence that there isn't a flying spaghetti monster. So why don't you believe in that?
Good point! The question was pointless. We don't believe in anything (including the existence of God OR the non-existence of God) because of logic, evidence, and proof. However, we attempt to justify our assumptions with the afore mentioned.
Saying you believe in something because there is no evidence that proves it to be false is so logically flawed. My head just exploded thinking about the poor people who believe in things, because they can't be proven false.
My thought exactly. /APPLAUD. Then again, you don't believe in God, and there is no evidence that suggests God doesn't exist. So isn't your belief unfounded as well? (I just committed a logical fallacy there, if you didn't notice.)
Actually you missed my point. Let me try to restate it. My point was not to believe in something because there wasn't proof against it. That's ridiculous! My point is ANYTHING that you believe in at this level (for example, how this earth came into existence, or is there a God), is unprovable. It's an assumption. It's an axiom. In other words, it's a starting assumption. From it, you derive your world view. However, to dismiss God's existence because you can't prove it, is like saying apple pie tastes bad when you never tried it.
Logic asside for just a moment. . . . Unfounded belief is the very essence of everything here, and my entire point has been that all beliefs (of this nature, see my post above) are such. Sure we can find cooberating evidence for our beliefs, but so can the other side. Hmm. You see, we just "curve-fit" the data to fit our preconceived ideas.
Interesting interjection. However, what you fail to realize is that non-theists run in circles saying that their logic proves their logic. I still maintain that this is a question of axioms (i.e. things that can't be proven).
apple pie tastes good ... God doesnt make sense. And religion makes a whole lot of people say apple pie tastes bad, without ever tasting it.
http://space.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18524911.600 A lot of things don't make sense. So what?
Something had to create the universe. Evolution starting from nothing is ridiculous imo. I believe in God.
"Something had to create the universe. Evolution starting from nothing is ridiculous imo. I believe in God." Then what created god, genius.
