Lets be realistic here don't attack my inability to judge sarcasm on a forum, sarcasm is an expression of speech and you are not talking you are typing so obviously it will be a little hard to discern either way, without the proper context (your posting history which i am not aware of) Its quite like the bible, if you know the context you will notice the figurative speaking, and be able to differentiate it from the literal.

To break it down for you.

You tell me your sarcasm is obvious due to your positing history (context)
I say the bible has some figurative speaking that is obvious due to context

Good lord, buddy (no pun intended). You missed MIA's point, you missed mine, we're posting in the P&R section, a guy says it should be in here, I say, uh, it is, and you have trouble seeing the point. It isn't rocket science, yet you have trouble with it.

And you would then ask us to wonder why an atheist could also admire Christ, a far more complex thing.

I'll have to leave you to whatever thoughts you can generate.

This is your quote, tell me how am i supposed to know, that you are being sarcastic?

Considering what Ive heard from you you are obviously a confused individual so i just figured your were really unaware of the threads location.

Sarcasm is a pointless expression, that is only used to insult someone, forgive me for not knowing that which i do not practice.

Uh, because we were discussing in the politics and religion section.

Beyond, I don't know, how were you supposed to know Mia was being sarcastic? Anyone else?

SB, with every post you are demonstrating your limited ability to conceive of life as it is - in all its glory - which is that it contains things as complex as a former evangelist, now an atheist, who still admires many things about the life of Jesus. If you continue to post and show your limitations, and more, make asinine comments that are as meaningful as air regarding others, you should expect a proper response.

You say its fairly reasonable for an atheist to admire Jesus. Jesus is the son of God, a God in which you do not believe, so how can you admire someone who stands for everything you dont believe. 90% of atheist do not admire Jesus, they dispose him. So either you are an atheist hypocrite, or you are just a child of devil sent out to cause havoc on the lords name

Your insults on my knowledge is just your way of taking the focus off your own blindness. You contradict yourself and most other atheist, then try to take the focus off it by slinging an insult to wards someone else.

Someone can admire how stories about a person have survived all this time, yet think all he said (if he even lived) is crap?
I can admire extreme islamists, for their dedication, even though i would want to see them all dead for their stupidity. (Not really dead and i don't have a view on islamists, this was just to prove my point.)

SB, I work very hard to stay respectful. If you'll recall, I castigated our late friend and fellow atheist traveller (of a sort) Stox, for his needless stand. But in truth, when something doesn't fit with your preconceived notions, or is something you simply don't understand, you resort to ridiculous aspersions based on nothing. At least it seems so to me. I have come to atheism and evolution at the conclusion of long study. That is all.

Now, it's very hard to accept your naming my logic as confused, or flawed, when we have the following, for instance:

A guy says, not everything in the Bible is to be taken literally, you specifically say, no, you're wrong, everything in the Bible is to be taken literally - except when it's not. You indicate that "it's obvious" when symbolism is present, yet very definitely believe that "God blowing nostrils into man" is a literal thing - God grabbed Adam by the nose and gave him life by exhaling into the lifeless corpus. Many would say, that's a symbolic passage.

Etc. I accept that you are confused, and have compassion for it. I do not accept your attacking my creed, or my logic, when I have come to where I am by a lifetime of deep and honest search.

I didn't vote because there was no option for "I believe it's possible, but still done by God".

And now, a neg rep, "idiot" to my last post above. SB, I'm sorry this is what you are left with, but I mean you no harm and this doesn't help improve your argument.

Ok back to your admiration of jesus's life, you made a big deal because i could not conceive of an atheist admiring a man that stands for everything they disbelieve.

Here are a group of Atheist that feel the same way i do http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=577637

I'm sure that's true, that there are atheists who don't admire the life of Jesus. I'm also sure there are atheists who hate French food, admire action flicks, and think pugs are cute as a button.

And, if you'd be so kind, please tell me how this impacts on what I do or don't believe, which is, after all, the subject that has gotten you so stirred up as to create a thread about it, and, from all I can surmise, brought you to leave me a neg rep when all else fails?

OK, I'll take your word for it. Since you were the only one on at the time, and since the rep was left for:

You'll forgive my failing in making the assumption. I'm sure you wouldn't lie, though, since your God has said that what is in your heart matters, not what is publically promulgated.

At any rate, if my being an atheist who admires much in the life of Jesus rocks your world, I really can't do much about that except to say I hope you feel better at some point.

This is just to point out mt first thought of surprise (to your respect of Jesus) is not such an uncommon one, even and especially among your own believers. Therefore it shows the character type that you are, by making it seem like it is fairly common for atheist to respect Christ. You are in fact being deceptive. Its Satans playground.

    Another Breakdown for you:

You made it seem like it is fairly common for all atheist to have respect and admiration for Jesus Christ.

You ridiculed me because i was so blind by not seeing that.

It just goes to show when you are faced with issues, you attack your opponent with really stupid statements. That contradict even yourself.

Whoa, son - please provide a single instance when I said it was common. In fact, more to the point, please provide a single instance when I was talking about anyone's beliefs but my own.

In the absence of this evidence, if it seemed to you I was saying so, again, I would direct you to your own confusion. And, as usual, confused, you resort to aspersions that have no basis in reality or respectful dialogue.

I've met quite a few atheists, and never heard anyone say anything bad about Jesus, just God, but they are actually one and the same.

Perhaps im wrong but this statement states, that i am having problems seeing the basics. Now your very next statement is... "so it doesn't surprise me you can't see how an atheist could admire Christ."

So you have related Admiration of Christ with the basics of atheism

You know, this little tete a tete aside, it did occur to me that this is probably a unique (not a common thing, buddy SB) that as an atheist I could find much to admire in the life of religious folks and what they found important.

Then a two second web search told me, "hey, I've got pals!"

    http://atheistsforjesus.tribe.net/thread/ee5e43f1-ec9e-4d6a-a696-086eed945500

Maybe this is a great way for me to make some serious dough - start a movement, tapping the groundswell of atheists who draw from all walks of life to form a living creed. Shhhh.

So are you or are you not saying it is common for atheist to respect and admire Jesus. Because one minute your saying it is, the next, your saying you never said such a thing, yet you still call me the confused one
