I think Matt Cutt don't anything which is to the point. I have always seen varying thoughts. But one thing for sure, he definitely talks things that you know.. for example the crawl that happened on last Friday. I had seen a indication of that and it was done very smartly. Like people who read his blog can only realize it.
What I find funny in his blog is that people are somehow scared when they reply to his blog: he says few words -usual words and everybody starts saying 'what a great blog! that was very useful...but when you re-read the blog there is little substance on PR, BL and Google
Completely beside the point - I don't think anybody is impugning his personal integrity, or has the slightest interest in whether or not he's a nice guy, the question is, as a Google spokesman, how much of the information he gives is the whole story / a partial story / biased to lead webmasters to what Google wants them to believe.
Who is matt cutts? (typed sarcastically) i have more important things to think about. I dont follow people.
@ Magda, Some of the commenters directly question whether:- he (MC) lies, he is telling the truth, he is trustworthy etc. That is impugning his integrity, whether that was the intention or not.
Yep, I'm always aware that Matt Cutt is working for Google and a such is speakig, at least part to benefit his company's interests
A smart man don't have to lie. He can just say the part of the truth which is convenient for the others and omit the rest. I think any public relation person is doing this, Matt is also doing this.
I don't think he lied in any of his blog; you just can't grasp what he is saying; he doesn't give hard facts.
I don't believe everything ANYBODY says, including Matt. Also, how can "Sometimes" be an option in the pole? You "sometimes" believe everything he says??? It doesn't make sense. It should just be yes or no.
Agreed... He talks in riddles and never says anything for "fact". I suppose that comes with the job but wish he would speak a bit clearer on topics. thx malcolm
I agree with you. I believe my practice more than their blogs and words. lol Google and their engineers won't release any details of their algorithm. Any search engines won't either.
Matt J. Cutts (1833-1894): Born on the red hills of Winikita, GA, the little Matt was more stealing fruits in neighbor's fruit trees than attending school. However, it's later that he beleive that honesty and justice must prevail. Matt J. Cutts became sheriff in the little village of missicoskee, FL at age 28, where he met his future bride, Mrs. Eleonor T. Swan. They had 3 children, one of them, becoming famous by inventing the Poukavistanboliscope..
i believe Matt's a good guy and does his best to help the good, while holding back from giving too much information that could help the enemy, as anyone really could in his shoes. he believes in his company and their product so of course he will be influenced slightly by their PR, politics and spin, but still, Matt's the ultimate diplomat, and a good guy. apart from that cat thing. dogs every time.
I think what Matt says in his blog is quite true. Recently he said that, there may be a PR update on the week ends, which actually turned out to be true.
I voted for NO. Not everything I trust from Matt Cutts blog... but in my list of what I refer for help... Matt Cutts will certainly be in the top 3.
Dragging up 3-year old threads is far more common on DP than any place I've ever visited and is reason #317 I never listen to anyone here.
Of course he can't give us the full truth about some specific areas of Google, but he does give us a direction to aim for and that's enough for me, since I'm only forking with whitehat methods anyway.
