no, I do not think that homosexual marraiges should be allowed...to me, as I interpret the Bible, marraige is between a man and a woman.

Well, in the US they are already legal. They just are not recognized by the government. The government gives benefits to certain family structures in an attempt to encourage them to exist. They want strong, two parent families that produce, and then raise children, that will teach community values, and raise productive citizens, who will go on to make their nation strong. I can't say I disagree with them on this goal.

The big issue comes from the question of if this is discrimination against individuals who are not interested in forming family units that the government is trying to encourage with tax breaks, wills, ect. Also, many gay couples cannot adopt as a couple, and raise a child in a loving home. Some people think this is a good thing, others think it is a bad thing.

I am against it. A man should not be able to marry another man. Same with 2 women.

In the UK there is such a thing as 'civil partnerships' between same sex couples. Not called marriage, but it pretty much confers the same rights, responsibilities and legal status. No comment.

Same in Switzerland, it gives them the legal status of "normal" married people. Like if one partner is in hospital the other is allowed to visit and decide on their treatment, or in case of a death they are able to herit money, stuff like that.

And there was a vote about that and the people said yes to it. And I don't have a problem with that as a tolerant, open minded citizen. I give a f*** about the moral code of the bible tbh..

Personally I feel same sex marriages should be legal in civil ceremonies and the partners given the full rights any married couple have. I also believe each church should have the authority to perform or or not perform such marriages as they see fit.

Come to NZ, we have "civil unions" - a watered down but legally binding form of marriage.

I can't see why good, strong, legal relationships shouldn't be ratified and celebrated.
