- and porn sites et cetera? My concern as a new and innocent website directory owner is pro, that I believe everything from good to bad should (in principle) be allowed a place in a directory, from a standpoint of free speech blah, blah... con, that this is widely considered a *bad neighbourhood* and should be avoided at all costs. What do you think What do you know about dealing with adult/gambling submissions Any recommendations I have a few gambling websites pending approval, one that even takes me to "http://redirect.www.redirect.lifemadness.com/", and I believe I should reject them. But what are the arguments
I don't accept that kind of sites (neither those that I don't like or that may be considered a bad neighbourhood).
I have same criteria on poker sites as I have on any other sites. For example, if it has no content and only consists of plenty affiliate links, it gets deleted in a second. It's up to your rules, and the rules are usually made up according to the directory admin preferences, beliefs, religion (try search banking related categories in Islamic directories) etc. IMHO the only thing about poker is that this field consists of more spam, bad neigborhoud and junk sites than most others, thus it's more risky.
Hrmmm.. Up until now I've had two poker related sites and one for escorts. Only one that got refused was one of the poker sites - they used a redirect. I guess we all make the rules as we go along.
From the outset I never accepted gambling or adult links. My thinking is that a kid doing homework should be able to use my directory without his/her parents having to worry about where it will lead. I do find myself wondering about a lot of listings that verge towards the grey areas of my own morals, however. Religion, politics, and complementary medicine links are all ones which I've found myself dithering over lately. I don't have any problem with rejecting a link because it goes completely against my ethical values. But it's when it touches the grey areas that I have difficulty, and I'm learning that there are plenty of those.
Well I did as well... I found that the directory contained 3 links in total, all SEO related and no apperent way to submit a new site.. Not that usefull yet
Oh that was just testing... its brand new directory... i was doing some testing... I will remove those ASAP
Hay all, Gambling sites i have had from the beginning on my directory never been in the shady area for me, if the gambling site are free from porn and other crap then its fine with me. Also it’s not a bad category to have it places 27/107 on my directory. Going back to (Obelia)'s comment "My thinking is that a kid doing homework should be able to use my directory without his/her parents having to worry about where it will lead." Its purely a moral issue (so its fine to list it, those who don't like it don't click on it we are living in a world of choice no?), if parents have raised there kids right then this should not be an issue quit frankly you should be more worried about porn as more then 80% of the internet is just that + the internet filters parents can put in place to block sites they don't want there little darlings to see etc... need i say more.
If you are a general directory with a gaming category, I think it would be alright to accept the legit gambling site. As the admin to your directory, it is really not that hard to figure out which gaming sites are legit and which are just fully of crap by visiting their link.
No gambling,no pharmacy and no adult to avoid possible problems. Additionally accepting gambling and pharmacy sites generate a lot of spamming.
I will accept gambling sites in my general directory but I have a gambling only directory that I'd rather people use. Since I own a gambling site as well I always like to see the competitions sites. But like many of you who accept them, they must contain content for approval. I do not accept Adult sites though in any place.
I accept gambling sites on my directories that have a gambling sub-category. But only sites that are not loaded with affiliate links, MFA's, etc. I also have a games specific directory...good spot for those gambling sites. Adult sites? Not in my lifetime! Though not too long ago, my partner and I looked at creating an adult specific directory. Finding hosting for such a directory was a bit of a hassle, and the cost was too much.
A real store front, and not one of those so-called pharmacy sites selling rip-offs of viagra, etc. Had someone who did submit like 25 pharmacy sites! All were blogger sites, believe it or not. All were the same, all led to one site of some company in Utah selling everything but ecstasy (could of been, just not under that name?). Then the idiot had the nerve to send me a crude email about why I had to nerve to not accept his sites! Something that few people seem to grasp about any directory... It is a service by the directory owners, especially the free service. All directory owners always have the option of turning down any site, for any reason. And not have to explain to some idiot why his/her site was not accepted. Some people believe that their site is so damn good, that directories have to accept it!
