Hy there , so how about it, do you accept blogs in your directory or not?
I keep getting a lot of submissions, and the problem is that most of them are useless. Blogs done just because they are free...most of them have 1-2 articles copied from god knows where...with no real value whatsoever...

If it is a quality site (blogs are sites with the only difference that they are categorized by date and by category) why not?

I have a category for blogs in my directories. Some blogs are valuable resources so I would definitely say allow them for submission. Yea, alot of blogs are worthless and you may not want to list them, but if you don't allow blogs submissions at all, you will miss out on the really fine ones.

I think it comes down to a review. If the blog is of no quality then don't add it, much the same as a scraper site. Other blogs as stated are valuable assets and deserve listing.

It depends on quality. I get a lot of sites that are basically just a selection of copied articles in blog format, which I always reject. If a good-quality blog is submitted I usually add it, because it's not about the format, it's about the content.

However, I do insist on a site having its own domain name, so no blahblah.blogspot.com type domains. I figure that the owner has to care about their blog at least enough to spend a small amount of money on getting a domain name. If it's free, it's more likely to be forgotten in a few months.

I accept blogs Blogs on Globalweblinks
But as all other listings, it comes down to a deep review of each as shadowknight states.
If the blog seems old and content rich, I have no problem accepting them. Problem for me comes to the free-hosted blogs. (normally I dont accept free-hosted sites, cause of their short lifespand), but I have made a few exceptions

In my directory I have a section for personal pages but not blogs. I don’t know if I shouldn’t also include blogs seeing that it’s nearly the same thing. Anyway I think that the important factor here is quality. There are many good blogs has there are many crappy sites.

same script i use (it is a nice one)
i was just checking to see if a different script made any difference in the quality of sites submitted

i assume you offer a free submiision option other than reciprocal right?

I would think a blog section would have to be adequately sub categorized to be worthwhile and only list quality blogs in that topic area. Or why not have a sub category in each category called "blogs" where you feature blogs on that particular topic. I don't see why you would want to exclude them but I also understand there is probably a lot of junk being submitted that way as well.

Obviously there's a lot of junk blogs out there, and it is so easy to delete or ban them, but at least keep the really good submitted blogs because they will grow and it will only make your directory a better resource for your visitors.

Another idea is to accept/receive pings directly from blogs. That way you would actually have the content and could have an aweful lot of unique content on your site. I'm thinking about doing this myself.
