Do Yahoo listings get deleted if not renewed?

That's what I was expecting when I did not renew a listing in the yahoo directory on December 1st, last year. Yet, I still see the listing and in the same category after almost three months.
    Is this common?

normally they remove the listing if not renew..but as u said you still see your site..this is surprising...i think they have change their listing renewal criteria..i have go through it again. may be we get some new information..

I think you are talking about paid listing in Yahoo directory. They remove the unpaid listings if not renewed .

Who cares about getting listed in their directory as long as your listed in their search engine?

Yes I am talking about paid submissions and it is common sense for yearly subscriptions to expire if not renewed but what I am saying is mine did not, did they say that it deserves a listing in the directory anyways (even for free)?
    JamieG, that was off topic.

Probably yes.. i think it's nonsense to remove high quality websites from any directory... it's detrimental to the directory itself. There will be no authority in this kind of directory that shows website only for money.

There is another possibility though.. are you sure they didn't charge your credit card and you didn't notice it? :)

Your use of common sense never ceases to amaze me.

    1. site in yahoo (paid for)
    2. yearly payment expiration up and over with
    3. site still in yahoo
    4. make thread asking if yahoo deletes sites after expiration

    5. ask yourself with the above known; does yahoo delete sites... hrmm. i dunno, is your site still there?

    common sense:

    does yahoo deletes sites? yes
    did they delete yours? no

    duh!

    move on you've been answered.

I've had sites removed and have also had sites that remain despite not re-newing.

You could always wait until they remove your site. And then just buy then if you think it's worth it.

    No problem.

If you feel posts are inadequate and need more info, you can do as mentioned in post #7 and/or read up on their facts(which imho would be best).

you sometimes get a bit of a freebe out of yahoo.if one compares the prices of links of directories in the pr 4 range ,and the fact that the yahoo directory is pr 10;this is scarce service and probably a bargain.

Where's the freebie and where's the bargain? Sorry, I don't follow what you're saying.

The fact that you can submit to the Yahoo dir and hang in there at the end for free. Free high PR Rob, surely thats better than submitting to some PR4 other directories ;)

if you price out pr 4 links per/month they can be 4-20$ month. So if we take the 300$ annual yahoo fee and divide by 12 = 25$ month assuming no free time due to listing not being deleted..that is cheap!what is you alternative for a pr 9 much less pr 10 link?pretty much alexa..good luck with getting in.Since this is a logarthmic scale a pr10 link is way cheaper @ 25$ month than a pr 6 for 20$ month...
