Do wordpress emails get saved?

I've always been curious but never really dug in for an answer.

When people leave a comment on a wordpress blog there is a section for their email address. Are these emails saved into the db?

If yes, where can I find them and is there another way besides going into the db to get them?

If no, are there any plugins, scripts, tweaks I can do to make that happen?

I am trying to make sure that I collect all the emails from the commenters on my site, which runs wordpress.

    Thanks in advance.

If you collect their emails for use though you are going to have to inform your blog users about that, have them opt-in and not suddenly suprise them in the near future.

Yes they are, otherwise when you edited your comments they would dissappear. I have not tried to retrieve them but I think someone familiar with myphpadmin could find them pretty easily as the email field is distinct.
