as the title says, do they get favored. Because it seems to me every time I search that popular websites get top ranking, is that because they have a higher domain authority or is it because they get a lot of traffic hence a lot of links? What is more important for ranking higher, domain authority or page authority?
Sure Farris, but don't think of DA as a metric that is going to change your website ranking. DA is just a number, the result of a algorithmic calculation. Keep in mind that the domain age is very important, so if you keep up the good work your ranking will improve in the future
domain age is no more important then another important seo factor.... the most important factor is not domain age itself, but how long your site has been up, and how long you have been getting auhtority backlinks.... So if your 20 year site is online and in-active, then a 1 year old site could easily outperform the 20 year old site; age with no activity means nothing..... google has double standards when it comes to authority. Sites that have authority can get away with a lot of stuff; however, sites with no authority are more at risk, and can not away with the same stuff, so google does favor authority sites.... so gaining googles trust from the start would set you down the right path.... as far as traffic is concerned, only google, and the site owner knows how much traffic they are getting, even though you assume they are getting lots of traffic... chances are, if they are high authority, then they maybe getting lots of traffic.... and obviously authority sites have backlinks; no backlinks = little to no traffic. DA is a metric created by moz... moz does calucations based on google algorithms, then comes up with your DA; Is it really accurate, who knows.... So moz is guessing what your rankings should be according to google algorithms, then gives you a score called DA/PA....
