    hi all,

i've been pondering whether it's better to just go with one twitter account and let it be on a plethora of topics/site promotions, or to compartmentalize and go with new ones pertaining to specific niches.

the upside of having one: loads more followers/etc all in one place
downside: tweets going out to followers about loads of stuff they don't care about (altho this happens on twitter anyway, lol)

    thoughts? what works for you?

I setup a few accounts for my sites that use the feeds, and I also have my #1 account that I have synced up to all my real life info and I post what I'm doing throughout the day. Follow Me :D

I just have one. Having a tweeter account doesn't mean that you are obligated to promote every single post. Post only what you think would interest your readers.

Most of the tweets must be non-related to your blog or else they would leave you because you are just spamming them.

I use just the 1 twitter account. The idea behind Social Networking is to really connect with people. When that is done properly, business can grow from it organically. (Just my opinion but it's working for me).

I have been using twitter to promote my sites and have been doing so for over a year. Twitter is really a Mini Blog yes its a no follow link. But your sites will get listed on yahoo yep its true try it. Not only that you can ping your twitter. I have about 1200 followers on twitter and my twitter has a pr of 3. So I think its good my twitter id is xyour925job

    Thanks

I use at least 4-5 different twitter accounts, I flip through them easily using Twitterfox on Firefox.

I would recommend using different accounts for different websites and target audiences. It will not be very targeted if you put so many different followers in one Twitter account, you would be doing too much promotion and it will not all be very targeted so you would get many people not being interested and unfollowing you.

Humm... this is an interesting thread here for me. I have been thinking about making another twitter account for another subject of interest other than internet marketing. I wasn't sure that you could. I think I will do that.

Thanks you guys for the great information. :)

Different Twitter account because the time may come when you may be able to merge a portion of your followers to either account.

I use two that are each related to different interests. I have found that I can keep everything organized this way.

I have one as a "professional account" and one as a personal account.
Either way you can't just have an account and not show any of your personality because you won't have any followers.
