1- after putting website on the server i will delete my webpages from my pc but then how i will edit them coz my editor is not as good as DW is ? i have a static web? 2- do u delete ur web after putting files on the server? if not then wht do u do?
The best idea is not to delete any of your sites off your own hard drive as those are your backups for if something goes wrong
i am using paid hosting but my hosting support fp extension also have online editor but its not like dw. would u like to share that wht u do with ur web . just delete all the files after uploading or keep them save in ur local hard disk
here is no reason why you should delete them. Basically, I retain all my sites and do make regular backups because my sites are important to me and I know that nothing is forever so keeping backups will ensure some kind of continuity. Say if your current web host closes or crashes, you would lose your site contents and if your livelihood depends on it, you be in deep *nasty stuff*. I seen too many people complaining when their site goes down and they crying that their million dollar empire is gone and they are given to bankruptcy, all because the web host disappear and they did not do any backups. I do not just suggest 1 copy of backups, you probably need at least 2 to 3 copies stored in different places to be good.
I think the following advice from our good friends at Dictionary.com could come in handy here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/backup Specifically description 5-a. You can never have too many.
i also delete my web coz if i will not do it it will decrease my harddisk space how its possible that a person is running more than 5 websites and he/she have all these webpages on their local disk
what size hard drive are you dealing with? i have 67 sites on my local hdd at the moment, and they dont take up that much space..
haa haa.. I hope you are trying to be funny here. Seriously, harddisk are so cheap in today's context and you can get hundreds of gigabytes for pretty much peanuts now. Most websites do not take more than a few hundred megabytes and if it is huge, it probably not be more than a few gigabytes. Without backups, all your investment would go down the drain if your website goes down and you do not have a backup.
all the people who r talking about hard disk space delete their web from local disk or just keep them save for future needs?
I used to keep backup of my web on atleast 5 places. So that, whatever happened I can retrieve from some source. I used to update all the 5 sources whenever I update my site. It is quite difficult. But I can manage as I have created some sort of programs/apps to do that.
